Meet Terri Hawkes the official voice of Sailor Moon

As a young boy in the 90s, Sailor Moon was my safe space. I was horribly bullied in school and felt like I didn’t belong. I looked at the Sailor Scouts as my hero’s and friends. The show gave me a sense of belonging and confidence to stand up for what’s right and wrong. The DIC dub saved me. I am now 38 and Sailor Moon still continues to be a part of my life and I still live by many of the principles the show taught me. Thank you Terri! You have no idea how you and the other voice actors in the show have impacted the lives of so many.

I had the exact same experience as a boy. Im 39 now. The boys at school were pretty cruel when I'd read the Mangas I'd imported. I say read, but obviously couldn't read Japanese. They'd call me gay or a fag, but I didn't care. I don't think my sexuality had anything to do with Sailor Moon.

As a kid in the late 1990's Sailor Moon was one of my favorite shows. At that time more families had cable TV and Cartoon Network was one of the most popular channels for children. That channel had shows like Bugs & Daffy, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo and Dragon Ball Z. Almost every day after school, I've always tuned into that channel and looked forward to watch these shows and keep me positive. The DIC dub of Sailor Moon voiced by Terri and the character's personality is why I love this show so much. One my favorite episodes of Sailor Moon (DIC Dub) - A Reluctant Princess (Episode 31) - Cherry Blossom Time (Episode 45)

Cherry blossom time is a great episode, because that's when Sailor Moon upgraded to the crystal compact, it's one of my favorite episodes as well. I truly believe that a big part of the reason that we all fell in love with Sailor Moon, was because of how much time, love and energy Terri gave to the role. But it wasn't just Terri, the show was graced with so many talented actors. I hope to interview more of them on the Positive Power show. Thank you for being here Sky. Much love from Ginger Star. :)

When Season 3 came, Terri was scheduled to continue on as Sailor Moon, but she was pregnant with twins and the doctor ordered her on bed rest. So ,thankfully Linda Balentine stepped up to the plate and had some tough shoes to fill. Viz Media took over the dub many years later and Dic unfortunately couldn't afford to take on the project for another time. So Viz Media hired VAs within their company, and it was dubbed in LA instead of Canada. While both styled were very different, both VA groups did their best to bring out what they could in the story. Dic going for a more American feel, Viz going for a Manga story feel. You can't really take anything away one from the other. I myself wish Terri would have taken over the Viz Sailor Moon voice. But who knows, maybe Dic will come back and step up to the plate to finish what they started, Ginger Star is good friends with Terri, and we hope you stick with us for future videos. I was just looking for DiC dub of Sailor Moon movies online because my favorite movies growing up were the Sailor Moon R, S, and SuperS movies. Ginger Star waited about a year to get the interview with Terri. She's a very busy lady. But it was so worth it, and because we waited so long, she took her time editing the video so it could be special for you guys, the fans as well. I am very sure if you reach out on one of Terri's social media platforms her manager will work with you to get an interview. Terri's team is fantastic. In the meantime, I would encourage you to practice interviews with other people, that's how you get better and prefect your craft. I am sure if you took the time to watch the first episode of Positive Power and compare it to our more recent episodes you will definitely notice a difference. Ginger Star loves to do collabs with other youtubers too, so if there is a video you would like to do together, don't hesitate to reach out. :)

Not a big fan of Terri Hawkes voice of Sailor Moon, but I'm glad she's doing well. I grew up watching Pokémon, so I'd prefer Stephanie Sheh voicing Usagi. Nice interview with Terri Hawkes. The reason why Terri Hawkes isn't my favorite voice of Usagi is because it sounds too tomboyish. Anyways, I'm glad she's active.

Numerous characters got unintended voices and were not like how they were portrayed in the original Japanese version. Viz actors on the other hand, were true to the character's look and personality from the original Japanese version.
