I agree, she's a brilliant embroiderer. Val's used a lot of mixed media in the past to create surfaces to stitch into - printing & adding texture with paper - I'm fascinated that these practices have evolved into a digital 'texture' for surface design. My head was buzzing with pattern & colour when I finished editing this video. Is Val beginning with her own digital art or is she using art from other artists and distorting it to embroider on? It is all beautiful but she refers to other artists which makes me wonder how she may be using existing artwork. Is she creating the original and then she photoshops with layers? I’m not familiar with photoshop.

Val uses a combination of existing classical artwork from the old masters and her own artwork and uses Software to layer them to create unique surfaces for embroidery. Thank you for watching Joan 😊
