‘I see all art as a form of storytelling,’ says Korakrit Arunanondchai - and there are stories aplenty in the work of the Thai-born, US-based artist. Personal memories, obscure historical events, and animistic rituals are among his plethoric set of references. They inform a practice spanning from video to performance and crop up in visual feasts as intriguing as they are alluring. For the latest episode of ‘Meet the Artists,’ Art Basel asked Arunanondchai to turn the camera on himself - not as a performer but as a guide. He leads us through his fantastical artistic world.
Korakrit Arunanondchai is represented by Clearing, New York City, Brussels, and Carlos / Ishikawa, London.
