One of the 3 music boxes that were waiting under the tree this year, "The Awesome Gecho Loopsynth" from Gechologic is probably one of the most wonderfully bizarre sound processing devices I've ever owned. I'm still completely sure how it works, but I hope you'll enjoy this little introduction as much as I did making it.

You can control if you want to use the built-in microphones, or the line in ( or any combination of those )

Hi Olivier, thank you for the lovely review, I'm in awe how professionally is it recorded and edited. Indeed a lot of this is a work in progress, many engines still need binding the parameters to sensors and defining more patches, however the hardest bit of work is done. Also, those which use some kind of sequence or chords (pretty much all but reverb and bytebeat) react to incoming MIDI signal, just start playing. Some take a while to develop full effect, #11 may seriously mess with the aural perception if overdosed. The "Song of Wind and Ice" has nothing to do with G.R.R.M., I'm exclusively fan of his older SF works (*Sandkings!*) and wasn't aware of the new titles back then... However after listening to that channel for 20 or 30 minutes you may start hearing tiny ice crystals hitting the fabric of your tent, and I swear I once heard footsteps of Yeti lurking around, no kidding. ;) Happy to hear you're having fun, enjoy! Cheers, Mario

Thank you, I definitely need to spend more time with that little box, but I was really happy with that first impression. I'm looking forward to future firmware updates. is there an SDK or ways to modify/hack channels or making your own?
@gechologic
@gechologic 4 жыл бұрын
@@OlivierOzoux Cool! :) Yes there is a SDK, I've put a few pointers here: gechologic.com/sdk -- later will add examples how to make your own channel, similarly how it was done for v1 model.

Nice little descriptive/instructuve vid... I guess dropping by their website is a way to see what new updates are available. I love the sound effects you can get out of this. I need to try out that looper more...

Thanks, I agree, it's time. specially since I was so busy in January that it took me 3 weeks to finish editing this video, let alone participate in #jamuary2020. Next up, let's make some actual music with all that gear!

Hi, i just received my version 2. I can’t get any sound at all. Tried both hp jacks, and both were inserted correctly each time. Also, when i enter a channel/preset then press set, it wont let me change to another preset, nor will it reset. 🤔 I have version 1 and i dont experience this issue.

thanks for the instructions. I've seen the Gecho advertised on instagram, but had no idea what it actually did. I'm interested in getting it, but the interface confuses me. Does it come with good instructions?
@OlivierOzoux
@OlivierOzoux 3 жыл бұрын
I’d say yes? The device itself is very simple and only has a few controls that are usually always mapped the same way from preset to preset

Sorry, but does it have a kind of internal recording on micro sd ?
@gechologic
@gechologic 2 жыл бұрын
yes it does, it is 100% reliable - if you need that, it's better to use external recorder - as from time to time there may be a glitch when the card takes too long to write or erase the sectors, but when it works it is super clean as it simply saves digital data to a wav file.

How did you get the info on what the button 2(new chord) does for channels 1-4? The manual doesn't say anything I believe
@OlivierOzoux
@OlivierOzoux 4 жыл бұрын
All that info is from the website, so unless i made a copy-pasta error, it should be right.

The video is newer than the device, I don't always have the time to jump on new arrival right away. I got mine along with the batch of Gecho v2.0 that shipped at the end of last year? Maybe mid to late November? I forget.
