A few hours north of Los Angeles in Los Padres National Forest, the firefighters of U.S. Forest Service take Yahoo News out to see how they are preparing the forests in California for this year's fire season.

Mockzzz Smith California offers a direct program for employment. It involves throwing a brick through a bank window

Its because those crews are the delta force of wildland crews so they really only want people that have a lot of experience and have been in the fire service for awhile so your best bet is test out get your red card and apply to your local crew that goes out of state work with them for a season or two and make sure that this is what you really want to do best of luck!

Honestly go look at a community college and look into their wildland program. That’s where I started when I first got into fire. I tried out for their type 2 hand crew, after that season I was hired on an engine. The following year I was picked up as a gs4 on a shot crew. If you truly want it, start hitting up stations, call out the ass and start trying to pt during the winter time with an engine or crew IF they allow you. You gotta have heart, working on a crew was the hardest thing I’ve ever done mentally, physically and emotionally.

@@prestonhines5395 I love my job first fire job I got was 10.75 an hour with OT at 15.75. That's below minimum. But I got lucky I now get 18.75. Living Large. (sarcasm) moving up.
