Please, make one of these for Gaius! I love him. His tough Roman attitude with the weak spot he has for Matthew is so adorable. While he admires Matthew's intelligence like Quintus does, I think he has a big brother dynamic that makes him genuinely concerned about his well being. He has a certain bond with Matthew's parents because of it that was delightful to watch. The series will have a hard time having "detestable villains" - and that's actually good. It is something that I think the writers should aim for. It's not only that the actors have such good chemistry and the characters are so interesting. I think it's also because a series about Jesus has the unique requirement of showing that every human being is in need of redemption, and that the Lord does want them all redeemed. For example, the Pharisees do have a side that is very good - they want to be faithful to the covenant. The Romans can be ruthless, but they are a reflection of a great Empire that doesn't know much else than might makes right, like Brandon points out here. Quintus may be vicious, but he is lonely just like Matthew is lonely. Matthew found consolation in riches, Quintus in power. Their wound is similar, and it's good that we look at Matthew following Jesus and being slowly healed, and think "I wish Quintus would receive and accept this grace too." It would be good to see even the nastiest characters have at least something that makes the audience look at them and relate. And as a counterpart, it is also good for us to see the most heroic characters fail, and be reminded that their heroism comes from God alone.

kitsch - agreed. I love studying this period; and scripture especially. Years ago, I had read something that Pilot "supposedly wrote" about Yeshua... Didn't believe it at the time, but there is some evidence that Pilot and his wife became Christians... it kinda makes sense looking back as I get older, because if you really read the end of the Gospels, this guy, really -REALLY did NOT want to execute the Christ - and I think was in a position where he was outright pressured to do so... kinda hoping Gaius and Quintas arrive at... well, the same conclusion as the Centurion who had the sick servant...

Brandon plays the most wonderfully charismatic villain I’ve ever seen. You want to hate him but you get that his character is more complex and somehow you end up relating to him and wanting to understand his character deeper. Brandon’s voice, mannerisms, and that giggle are pure gold and magnetic in that you want to engage with him more. Listening to Brandon, you get that he has analyzed his character deeply and is completely invested in Quintus. Between his brilliance and his delightful personality, The Chosen absolutely nailed this casting. Bravo to The Chosen and Brandon. Can’t wait to see more.

Gaius is shaking his head 'no' but then Matthew answers "yes" and Gaius drops his head even more, like "oh snap you've done it now Matthew." 😆 It's those kind of subtleties that are the perfect and relatable touches!! Can't say enough good about this show.

If there's not a part of you in the character, you won't feel that connection to the character. You won't feel attached, you won't care about them. Exactly Dallas ...we do not question priests during sermons when they wander with their fictional stories so the same here lets not worry about critics ...and by the way because of Quintus and other Romans I started to read history books about ancient Rome. The Chosen is my most favorite Biblical based show. I appreciate how the show sticks to scripture and quotes it from the Bible. What I appreciate the most is how much my 10 year old is engaged and gets excited to be able to connect what he has read in his Bible to the storyline on the show. Keep up the great work!

Brandon rocks it as an actor! His portrayal of Quintus is just humorous, chilling, seething, arrogant and still so slick you almost want to like the guy who has his foot on the neck of Israel. He is not one dimensional but much more fully faceted. His desire to get the best people to work with or ones easy to control, his commanding presence even though not taller than some of the soldiers he commands. It makes it clear that his power is more about strength of will, mind, and cunning. Using Peter as an informant, starting to use Matthew's 'machinery' as his personal tool. And on top of all that - dang that voice. I've practiced sounding like that as my vocal range is fairly close. I can almost scare myself...LOL! Great job and thank you for what you've added to The Chosen. All together now - "Oh Matthew - you really are a treasure!"

It is the ability to bring people to a fuller understanding of scripture and a more personal account of each character that makes the Chosen such a personal message to many. By fleshing out the characters the audience is able to relate to the Gospel like never before. The accuracy of facts pertaining to the details of their personal lives not mentioned in scripture becomes unimportant as long as scripture integrity is maintained. When I hear Brandon protray Quantus, I hear John de Lancie in his acting approach. The way he speaks....the way his dialect....his arrogance and so fourth. So much that if Star Trek TNG was ever rebooted....he could play Q 100%. A great talent he is and yes, Quantus is someone you love to hate. He also reminds me of Paul Linde as well.

I think its perfectly fine to take some creative liberties to add some spice to the show. I gather that this series is not just for entertainment but also to witness and possibly bring light and awareness of Gods love and offering of salvation to someone who might not otherwise be open to hearing about it. Dallas, the extra text is what makes this show a brilliant show. My favourite scenes so far are Mary meeting Jesus in series one. Jesus meeting the woman at the well. Series 2 Mary is brought back to Jesus after backsliding its just how I feel when I've back slid. Then gone to speak to my parish priest.

Having grown up in "church" at a time when the stories were dressed up, with no dirt, no rags, and no human rights, this has made a very visual impact on something of what was going on at that time. If you read Taylor Cauldwell's, "I Judas", you get a very realistic view of the place and times surrounding this story. As an adult, I have an understanding of the situation in Germany under Nazi rule, but the Middle East with Roman rule would have been a close second if not worse. The book helped me along with this series to realize what the situation of life was like in the first century. Likewise, if the death of Jesus was prophesized, how was that scenario supposed to happen if Judas had not caused the situation to happen? I have heard a teaching that Jesus and Judas knew and understood their roles in the fulfillment of the prophecy. The Book I found gave me a better appreciation/understanding. Also, back then, historical content was not touched on. How eye-opening all this is. Sorry if I rambled.

I know Quintus isn't necessarily a good guy, but it is difficult not to like a guy who seems just so perpetually amused. This actor has such great energy, you just can't take your eyes off of him.

I knew he was familiar. I saw him as Ebenezer Scrooge in a Christmas Carol in Dallas Texas in 2019. I kept telling my fiancé how great a job he did.

Fun Fact-- Brandon Potter has a track record of voice acting in Anime. To name a few roles he's done... -Shanks (One Piece) -Godot (Ace Attorney Anime) -Sven Vollfied (Black Cat) -Gunhead (My Hero Academia) It honestly just makes me like this show more. Guy is a great actor and completely sells his performances.
