I feel bad for Wynyard. He's clearly in extreme mental anguish from what he's seen and hasn't been able to get any help for it in the years since. Most of the characters treat him with disinterested contempt, even Robert talks down to him for using drugs. Like, the movie's very over-the-top but Wyn's problem's have a certain underlying realness to them. It's unfortunately still true that people with drug habits are viewed as freaks who should be chastised instead of unwell humans who haven't been able to find relief for their problems except in chemicals. At least he found the release of death at the end, plus he was horsed up to his eyeballs so he was probably in a blissful state of mind.

Yeah, I did. Back in the day my ear was not attuned to Vietnamese like it is now. These days I can easily tell the difference between, say, Thai and Vietnamese. Another common faux pas is the portrayal of Vietnamese soldiers wearing the stereotypical straw hat worn in Southeast Asia. In Vietnam, this hat is associated with being worn by WOMEN. There were, of course, female soldiers. Anyway...wish reality was like the movies, at least the cool parts.
