Meet The Feebles Soundtrack (Peter Dasent)

This is the soundtrack to Peter Jackson's splatstick cult classic Meet The Feebles. Meet The Feebles concerns an rehearsal by the variety show known as The Feebles for a TV pilot in the hope of getting an syndicated series. Unlike the Muppets they are far from cute and cuddly, they portray the darker side of human nature with an strong element of misanthropy.
This is often dubbed "The Muppets On Crack". The soundtrack was done by Peter Dasent, and it has an unique cocktail of genres from 50's rock n roll, to Billie Holiday Jazz to Early 1960's British female vocal pop. As far as I know, this soundtrack has never been on youtube. So, i'm glad to bring it to youtube.

I know this isn't popular opinion, but I prefer Peter Jackson's "splatter" movies more than his high acclaimed stuff. Wished he would go back to his roots. :D

I agree with you. It's a double-edged sword, division between fans tho. I think if you've bought up on his early films, you are less inclined to enjoy his more acclaimed stuff, and if you became a fan during his Lord Of The Rings era, and have more of a mainstream taste, you are less likely to enjoy his early splatstick stuff, then again, I think it's possible for fans to enjoy all eras of Jackson. Me, personally I enjoy his early stuff way more than LOTR.

i dont think its an unpopular opinion, i agree to that 100%. the lord of the rings etc are boring. I mean ofc Peter Jackson deserves taht money, but please Peter come back to your roots!

The track "Vietnam" is weird to me. Like, it's a mix of feelings; the main feeling is like a mix of hope and dread. By hope, I mean the hope that a new recruit, Wynyard, might have (not knowing what to expect but hoping for the best) going into combat. Then the longer it goes the more "dreadful" it gets, with the various instruments conveying negative feelings (worry, fear, sadness, bleak). Then around 22:12, it slowly fades back into the feeling of hope with an underlying hint of sadness. If I remember right, one of Wynyard's friend's got captured, so they go to search (while fighting too). They think they found him, but they find his head and get captured themselves, so that part of the track turns incredibly sad, then it's back to the weird feeling of hope (the "duuun, dun-dun" if you're confused, the main parts). Then it gets more intense and fearful as Wynyard and his fellow soldiers are captured and subjected to various horrors, including being forced to play Russian Roulette. That scene and the song both haunted me for a while... ...But it's great; the instrumental tracks match whatever's happening on screen, and that can be said for the rest of the soundtrack. And the film's great too. Brilliant!

I love this film (and Braindead) way more the Lord of the Rings. Peter Jackson’s early work was more my type.

Yeah, me too. I love Meet The Feebles, Braindead, Bad Taste, and The Frighteners. I wish Jackson would go back to his roots and make one more film in the splatstick genre.

I can see there are several pieces of music cut down from the final film. Then again, several films have that extended versions of music them that are soundtrack exclusive. Like Toy Story and the Spongebob Squarepants Movie are they few I can think of.
