Celebrini looks next level in the eye test. I've seen all 3 games between VGK and SJ. In each game, when his line comes out it looks like a mismatch and he tilts the ice in SJ favor drastically. He's doing that to what might be the best and most disciplined team in the league - super impressive stuff.
@JudgeDrey16 күн бұрын
If trends remain, Celebrini wins fairly. Coming from a HABS fan, I could argue that a defenseman outscoring forwards should give him an edge, and yes it is pretty amazing. And also making a case that he's playing on a mediocre team for most of the start. That can be said of all three players. Celebrini playing on the WORST team at center is amazing. And his work ethic is just incredible. I love the way he never watches the play. He's always in the mix. That is one detail I just hate about certain other players is when they make a pass, they stand there and watch what happens for a second or 2 before getting their legs going again. That was the biggest beef I had with Drouin's play style in MTL. And I see SLAF falling into that pastern sometimes and I hope he corrects it soon because it could be a big key into making him that PPG player MTL wants from their number 1 overall pick! He's really strong on the puck and makes nice plays. But he gets caught watching too much. Anyways, it's been a fun season to watch so far! GHG!

I think it's also important to consider Dustin Wolf. Goalies are a lot easier to overlook for trophies like this given they fact their plays are a lot more quite and deal a lot more with having to be efficient with movement, as positioning for a block is their precious resource, but Wolf is like, one of the sole reasons that Calgary is in a position that could allow them to get a wildcard spot right now. Additionally, while I don't think that Jackson Blake from the Carolina Hurricanes is currently in contention for the Calder, he's certainly one of the best rookies in the league at the moment. He's a remarkable winger, is fantastic in ensuring possession in any situation having a corsi average of over 60%, and honestly just plays solid Brind'Amour style hockey. As there is still a half of a season left, there's a possibility that if he get more experience over the course of the season, that he can get his points up, especially if Brindy ups his TOI by even like 2 mins, maybe giving him a chance on the 3rd line, or 2nd line on a less risky team. All-in-all, he was a pretty great pick-up for Carolina in the draft. I'm sure that he is soon to develop into a solid playmaker within the Carolina system on par with Aho and Jarvis. Plus, I think that he can become a fairly solid 30-goal man in the following seasons, especially if he can get some playoff experience, which is looking extraordinary probable.

Michkov point totals literally say he dines on the powerplay, around half his goals and 3/4 of his assists are on the man advantage. Has shown he can be streaky on his point production as he had 5 and 7 game point droughts. Hutson has getting more consistent points due to in part on the powerplay and his dynamic play-making. His blocked shot assist vs the Caps led to the OT winner by Suzuki. Celebrini does have reasonable point consistency and would have likely been leading if not for the hip injury. Can imagine voting could be down to a literal photo finish at the end of the season. Currently: Hutson 32, Michkov 30, Celebrini 29.

Celebrini or Hutson. If Hutson keep adding points and end close with Celebrini, i will have to go with Hutson, cause you expect points for a forward, but not from a D, and certainly not that much point. He's only the third rookie in nhl history to lead in points at the half season, the other 2... Bobby Orr and Nicklas Lindstrom. Becomes also the fastest rookie D in CH history to reach 30 points, second is Chris Chelios. That look good on a resumé
@Daniels6569932 күн бұрын
This as well. I think too many overlook how much harder it is for a rookie defenceman it is to score as many or more points as a fwd.
@chrisleclerc37712 күн бұрын
@Daniels656993 indeed... im afraid that they already put celebrini's name on the trophy. So-called experts say that Celebrini is making a big impact on his team and make other players better. I dont know if they have something against Hutson but I don't see them talk allt about him. If he keep the same pace he had the 9 last game, he will have 85-90 points this season. But I'm sure he will hut at least more then 60. He don't get the attention he deserves... he changed in part the face of the offense and pp. How he attract players to him to leave his teammates open. His lateral movements, control of the puck and the creativity he brings every night. I dont see the sharks being a way better team with Celebrini and I already know that some people reason will be that he didn't have the same team Hutson have, he missed around 8-10 games... thinking that way, if the player that have the most point at the end of the season shouldn't win if the team he play for is a top team. But at the end of the day, I would choose a defenseman over a forward if they are close with their stats.
