I'm super excited about these happy-music and smiley-faced positive-vibes adverts announcing a dystopian future of neverending war and murderous technology developments. I take comfort in the knowledge that the psychopathic USofA is only really good at and interested in developing killing machines and keeping wars going non-stop, and that when the rest of the world finally understands that we will likely form an alliance of everyone else against the US death-cult-machine.

@RosscoAW Жыл бұрын
Boston Dynamics is a defense contractor whose original robots were all created explicitly for the almost sole purpose of serving as early prototypes of exactly this, except fucking way larger and much more terrifying. BD's Spot is a crystallization of that research over years into a low cost consumer application useable by enterprise customers -- this, on the other hand, is designed specifically to provide low-cost automation of repetitive security personnel tasks; both are arguably the consequence of *literal decades* of human labour and *many hundreds of millions of USD* in publicly-funded research and subsidized partnerships with industry. Spot is the "knock-off" of decades of work and enough taxpayer funds to build an entire university or a new Tier 1 hospital, all at the expense of the government, with privately-funded involvement being netlabel and only relatively quite recent. American innovation is a consequence of massive, government-organized and government-led projects, and commercialization and privatization are one of the last and frankly least important links in the chain. If you want to complain about something (silly), complain about how they didn't build a hospital in your podunk rural community so they could have robot dogs. You'd still sound silly, but at least you'd sound like *a remotely educated/aware silly.*

They're neat for patrol duty with how fast they are. The police already have rugged bots that can traverse stairs and even deflect munitions. Drones are a skeet shooting target, but these dogs would be ideal for large buildings with a lot of hallways since you could very quickly have it patrol through.
