One thing i like about Germans is it has a Sonar and Smoke so you can see any Torps heading into it.

Gaede huh? Well if you like this the Z-23 is amazing..maxed out anyway. I’d suggest running this torp build till you get the Z-23, then switch off to Erich to get the most out of those 150s. Also, if you run Sims as an inspiration, you xan get the Gaede to 17k hp and the Z-23 to 21k hp.

It's strange how this works. HP Buff Commander for Gaede Sims: 17,700 HP Hyde: 17,140 HP Both: 18,340 HP HP Buff for Yamato: Sims: 99,120 HP Hyde: 100,990 HP Both: 102,910 HP (Although would mean giving up Cummingham)

@@dgeneratio1 I don't have Hyde, so I wouldn't know, but I know Sims provides a straight buff of a fixed amount of HP depending on ship tier. Does Hyde have a % based buff?

They're fantastic and my favorite DDs. They're the perfect mix of gunboat, tank, and torpedo boat. The Americans are OK with great guns but weak armor and stealth and once the DDs are dead they dont have a lot to do to impact the rest of the match. The Japanese are fun if you like running away and torp sniping all match. The British are actually pretty great but they're a little more on the torpedo boat side of the spectrum. The Germans are exactly where I want a DD. Great guns but not too much as to sacrifice torps. Decent concealment but the armor/HP will ensure you stay in the game long as you do your part. Then as if it wasnt good enough that German hydro is just a game changer, once you have it you feel like you're missing out on every other line. Just the best mix of all features on a DD in my opinion

@@vynnxa6416 they're still one of the best lines in the game, however they are getting to be somewhat old news now. They're powerful but easily the slowest DDs in the game. Many of the recent cruisers are even faster due to power creep and even some Battleships can keep up (I love chasing DDs in my Hood for example). I still absolutely recommend them, just keep power creep in mind cause wargaming has to find a way to keep people buying more their shit Lol

I main German DDs and I absolutely love Gaede. Its without a doubt my favorite tech tree ship in the game and one of my favorites period (with T61 probably beating it a little). Its definitely a tanky gunboat. It can scrap for prolonged periods and that's a nightmare for other DDs which makes it one of the best DD hunters in the game. I'd recommend using Bey as commander and maximizing the HP and the guns. I even use Sims as an inspiration to give it a ridiculous health pool. Also Bey's skill that shows the nearest enemy ship just makes it a torpedo boat's worst nightmare. Now unfortunately Gaede is the gold star of the German line. Maass is good but not quite as dominant as it doesnt get the 150s and Z23 can be frustrating against dominant DDs like Lightning. I have yet to play a ship that just checked every box for me the minute I started with it like Gaede since my early days when I ground out the Fuso

I never considered boosting HP as a focus for my German destroyers... would definitely make it an uneven fight against other DDs... I think I'm gonna try this build out... thanks for posting this The Labor Peasant!

Yeah, the Gaede and the T-61 are fantastic. Great survivability, good guns, good torpedoes, great consumables. They're very well rounded. One of my favorite strategies against enemy destroyers is to wait until they deploy smoke, activate sonar, and then get close enough for them to be detected by it (~3.9km). Not only will I see any torpedoes they launch, but they will remain detected inside their smoke while I can freely shoot them wihout giving my position away (assuming there are no there enemy ships in range. You can basically turn their own smokescreens against them.

Jerksky's AP pen buff is a better inspiration than Trywitt for the German DD's. Second choice would be Madden. Can't hide from Germans in smoke, they all have 5km bingbong. german DD party piece is torps reload faster than smoke disappears, so you can torp twice from one smoke.

you gonna to enjoy the z23 it’s the most flexible dd you can get her with 70 knots torpedo speed and 58 reload time with 4.7 concealment or you can go all in with 5 * 150 mm guns with bey and twist and track with 20k hp .

I was under the impression that German destroyers were gun boats more than torp boats... wouldn't you want your smoke to last longer and cool down quicker? At least that's the way I play my German destroyers... make them as sneaky as possible and dink and dunk to get my shots in pop smoke and focus down whatever makes sense.

If you get the chance, you should try out Bey on your German DDs. He has twist and track which speeds up your turret rotation, and even better it gives you an indicator of where the closest ship is even if they aren't spotted. It's really handy when you are trying to look/watch out for the enemy destroyers, or if you want to know where the ship is that's on the other side of the island you're next to. Not sure if you knew about this already, so I figured I'd let you know if you didn't.

Just finished the maass now saving up for the z23 I pulled up at some traffic lights next to a full health hipper in my maass & started blasting! Citadel'd him before he knew what hit him then floored the gas Hunting cruisers in these German destroyers is so much fun The maass gets some more meat on her, I like my lady's curvy 😋
