Meet the Germans: Young Germans and Sexuality

When it comes to the sex lives of Germans, a great deal has changed in recent years. Young Germans have sex for the first time later than teens 10 years ago, even though they start learning about sexuality in primary school. This is quite different from how sex education is perceived elsewhere in the world. In this episode of Meet the Germans, Shabnam shares some surprising revelations about Germany’s ‘Geschlechtsverkehr’ paradigm.

@@ShabnamSuritaMTG I think that you know how religion (no matter which one) tries to impose control over the individual's sexual orientation, knowledge of sex, ability to express sexual desire, etc., ESPECIALLY as regards women. I find the German approach refreshing for that reason. Sex is an important part of life, and young people deserve to know the truth and not a bunch of myths that make them ignorant and afraid of their own bodies. The example you gave of the "blue period" is very illustrative of this sad phenomenon.

Thanks! The birth rate in Germany has stabilized over the past couple of decades, but the main concern that we notice is that of the 'skilled workers' gap or Fachkräftemangel. And the overall population is ageing with less and less people having kids. I still have to find out about the north/south/east/west thing you asked, but I will get back to you when I find something :)

In Denmark you could buy porn magazines in vending machines publicly in the 80s, or watch hardcore at night on normal TV. I was a bit shocked in my teen years when we traveled there. Although nowadays with the internet, it is probably even more difficult to protect the youth.

The really liked the topic, because it’s in the first place a reflection of the Human nature that is influenced by biological base “ I’m pointing to the Hormones that drives the sexual desire” and what I precisely liked is that Germans are simply open to talk about and teach the sexual culture. Unfortunately, in my own society that I belonged to the talking about this Topic is extremely Forbidden and shameful even between Married couples which is seems for me ridiculous and terrible.

Yes because in the US many schools teach "abstinence only" and also access to contraceptives is bad. I bought my first pack of condoms at the store after school... In some US suburbs you'd have to make your parents drive you 1 hour to the next CVS

15,16 is is considered to be too young in my country, so I just depend on my hands😅 With the reform in education system in our country, Myanmar, the former government attempted to teach s*x education to the high school students, Conservatives opposed that plan .So,we just rely on the internet to know about s*x but the information we can get on the internet is limitless 😅

Teaching immortality in school for innocent kids. The kids need to be taught how to prevent premarital sex rather than sex without boundaries. I hope some people with morality starts schools that teach science along with morality. And this is supposed to be a good thing? Instead of marriage people are having casual sex (even if they marry later it is statistically less likely to be successful as surprise surprise people who are used to sleeping around have commitment issues). Then what shall become of the German family? And if all this sex is protected what accounts for the observed rise in venereal diseases and how will people have children? We are going to experience population decline and the political consequences will be hard indeed.

I find the presenter very highly accented in her English and extremely fast in her speech. It’s not at all comfortable or pleasant to listen to this speed accented talking in a European context. We’re not used to it here. I don’t know what her professional strengths are (she’d have her own), but presenting DW video programs certainly isn’t one of them.

As an English man I am very sorry for what my country did to Germany in the first half of the twentieth century. The German people worked and fought to liberate themselves from the shackles of financial capitalism and bolshevism in order to build an alternative better future. Watching videos like this one fill me with shame and sadness at what anglo-soviet social engineering and cultural programming has done to the German people.
