Sir Jack Hobbs finished his first-class career with an average of 50.70, which is remarkable when you consider he played the game into his 50s, and often on atrociously difficult pitches. To maintain an average of 50 over the course of a 834-match career is very impressive and I think a testament to how good Hobbs was. His records will never be beaten.
