Meet the Misfit Herd of Rescues in Tennessee - a Fun Country Pet Sit with Pigs and a Hound!

Marshall, Dook, Binks, Banana, Trooper, and Benjamin... this delightful "Misfit Herd of Rescues" is made up of 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 bird, and 2 pigs. They live in harmony with their kind and caring pawrent.
All of these animals are rescues and they couldn't have landed in a better place where they all enjoy the love and attention that was lacking in their former lives.

We all had such a great time together. We took nature walks, had cuddles, ate salmon skin, played, made animal noises like grunts and howls and tweets. I bonded with each of these precious creatures and it was hard to leave, that's for sure!
Every pet deserves a vacation. I'm glad I was able to give this crew a fun time.

MARSHALL (11 yrs, hound mix) loves to howl. It's the way to her heart, so we made sure to howl everyday... fun!
Marshall just had a few masses cut off, poor girl, so she had fresh healing wounds. With those sad eyes, she knows how to trigger sympathy. But she is a happy fun doggo with a sweet gentle spirit. She was the first to adopt me as her bestie and sleep with me.
Even though she usually is a couch potato, Marshall gets pumped up for walks with the sitter!
DOOK (10 yrs, Aussie mix) is a good lookout and a very sweet boy. He likes long walks at the nature trail nearby (Rolling Hills Wetland Loop) and wags his tail whenever he sees me. He would come to snuggle every morning with us. He and Marshall got into contests for who could get closer to me. The rest of the time, he likes to hang on his couch. Seeing him peer out at me in the driveway makes my heart happy.
Of course I made them salmon skin and of course they loved it!
BINKS (10 yrs, long hair) is a floofy kitty boy. He has the biggest proudest tail in the land! Binks is a very chatty friendly cat. He likes to drink out of the bathroom faucet, treats, and being held like a baby. Binks doesn't mind any of the other animals at all, and frequently comes over just to give his opinion.
BANANA is about 18 years old. He is an Indian Ring Neck Parakeet. He sings (in joy and in anger) and he says his name!
Two things to know about Banana:
1. He will reject most of the
food you give him.
2. He hates people near his cage
He was rescued from a neglect situation and only has one wing. He climbs all over his cage freely and is very cage protective. The "best worst bird to ever exist," Nanna Man is a huge personality. He lets me know what he doesn't like, which includes the broom and often my presence in his sphere. But he's fabulous.
TROOPER (9 yrs, Juliana mix) is first pig. He was given to my host as a piglet on a spur of the moment rescue. He imprinted on her and follows her around. They have a great bond. She was surprised to learn that pigs cannot be solitary animals, however. If there's only one pig, it will pick on the weakest human. As the only human... she figured she'd better get him a companion.
BENJAMIN (6 yrs, Vietnamese mix) is her "pig's pig," as she says. She got him for Trooper, but it turns out that Benjamin bullies Trooper sometimes. And he isn't too interested in humans. So they need to be fed separately to avoid Ben wounding Trooper. Otherwise, Benjamin is a sweet pig, mainly just grazing on grass and dutifully trotting into his pen for dinner. He is shy with people, but allowed me to scratch his soft little ears.
The two pigs snuggle on their mattress on the porch. They have about a dozen blankets and comforters, which need to be fluffed and piled each day so that they can burrow underneath. Trooper often lounges there alone in the midday, resting himself while Benjamin is more likely to constantly eat grass or climb into the outdoor water trough so he can make mud.
Trooper tries to butt his way into the house sometimes. He is used to being top pig and his mom's favorite. And they both like bananas and carrots for treats. I experimented and found that they like to eat the banana fruit and then the peel, rather than chomp through both at the same time. Benjamin is a "gentleman" and can be hand fed. However, Troopie is a little grabby and shouldn't be hand fed.
I found the pigs very interesting as I had never taken care of them before. They were cute and well behaved with funny personalities.

I found rhe written narrative flashed by so fast i couldn't read it and get the whole story behind this video. Shame really cause it looked like a real nice story...i gave up.watching. 2:43

Thank you for the feedback.. it's always a tough balance between moving fast enough to keep it interesting and slow enough to tell the story. I include a full narrative in the description for those that are interested. Again, thank you for taking the time to tell me, I'll keep this in mind.
