I'm a UGA fan and I thought he made the right decision. Come'on, having Young under center and Bama's offense VERSUS having Bennett under center wit UGA's offense. Hindsight is 10/10. Hell, we probably threw more this season to keep the Burton effect (keeping good receivers) from becoming commonplace. I think Burton has a work ethic problem. If so, he went to the wrong damn place. Saban and Kirby have EVERYBODY practice like there're in a game with a sell-out crowd.

I'm curious about Burton because my Cincinnati Bengals just drafted him. Over the years the Bengals have drafted a few head cases, some excellent football players. Don't know yet if Burton will be either in Bengals stripes. But Cincy might be just the right town for Jermaine. Adam "Pacman" Jones smacked a woman upside the head in a saloon altercation here. Not everyone's decision to transfer is based off playing in the national championship. 90% of their decision to transfer isn't. They transfer to raise their stock. 5 stars leave all the time and end up at Arizona state and schools like that. It made sense for him. He wasn't going to be the best at Georgia this year, alabama's receiving core is mediocre at best this year. He's going to get exposure, and has a better chance to play. He won a natty. He wants that NFL money now.

@@RTK5357 Burton has less than 100 yards more at Alabama this year than he had last year at Georgia. And that was with much more competition at receiver than he would have had this year at Georgia. Ladd McConkey has 675 yards this year at Georgia; more than Burton has at Alabama. And Georgia is more than likely going to play 2 more games than Alabama, both on a massive national stage for all to see, while Alabama plays Kansas State in their bowl game that no one will watch other than those two fan bases. Poor decision.

That's karma. As a GA fan, I always want our former players to do well and thrive elsewhere, if they transfer. They left because they weren't getting the necessary playing time at GA or they just want to move closer to home and their family. Burton's situation was totally different. Burton was a starter and played most of all the games he started. His family lived in GA. He transferred because Brock Bowers had more receiving numbers than him. To him, it's not about what's best for the team, it's about him and him alone. What he did is comparable to a spouse committing adultery. I was actually glad that he left. We don't need selfish players like him on our team. If I was a coach, I wouldn't accept a transfer from someone like that. It appears Burton's karma impacted Bama as well. Bama might have done better and made the college football playoffs this year had they not accepted Burton as a transfer.

Georgia fan here. I never really liked him, even when he was at UGA. He was mid at best. He dropped a lot of balls, but just seemed like one of those guys who thought he was God's gift to football. I would much rather seen him leave and A.D. Mitchell stay. But that's the way the dice fell. But he was mid at best. For each amazing catch he made, he dropped an easily catchable ball. I've watched enough to see Burton doesn't know how to get himself open against good competition. I've seen him run directly into coverage, not breaking routes off to help a scrambling QB. I don't know how good of a blocker he is. I think he should have been benched for some of the younger WR's.
