I am all for protecting the vulnerable. With 'choice & control' comes risk. Surely each person is different and can choose the level of risk. As a person with disability I want to be liberated, not regulated. The NDIS, while very good for me so far, does have its flaws, and hopefully the revue and its implementation will address some of those flaws. Please remember, I am in individual. I do not want to be categorised or regulated based on my disability. As Dr George proves and well knows, physical disability does not equal mental disability. The level of risk for me is very low, I would like that reflected in how that level of risk is assessed. I would also like that level of risk reflected in who I choose as a support worker AND the cost of registration for support workers. I certainly want to choose who is my support worker (s). I do not want to be forced to use some organisation.

Thank you for interviewing them! They sound lovely and like they will do a good job considering everything to ensure autonomy and choice and control. But it’s hard to blend that with the changes the government wants to make to the legislation. I know it’s not through yet but it made the governments intent quite clear.

The NDIS was supposed to allow people with disabilities to get on with their lives, by providing the necessities they needed to do so! it seems it has caused them to have to think about their disabilities 24/7! Instead of liberating pwd, it has imprisoned them in ongoing trauma, proving their disabilities over and over again, answering to cold hearted LACs, planners & delegates, who have NO understanding of living with disabilities! Endless reports and paperwork take the joy out of anything the NDIS provides!
