Well Scharnhorst is actually a battle cruiser a hybrid of cruiser and battleship perks of both ships ...it was a experiment ship that got sunk on battle of cape with the reports of its successfull deployments the German navy fleet made the Tirpitz...this my opinion guys sorry for the full on Nerd mode

Nah, it was a fast Battleship because of its armor. Only the British called it a battlecruiser. Battlecruisers have cruiser thickness armor and battleship guns so they could chase cruisers. Scharnhorst was fast because it had 1 less turret and lighter guns. They absolutely intended to give it 15 inch guns in new more heavily armored Bismarck type turrets to replace the 11 inch triple guns, but circumstances prevented it. The "Pocket Battleship" terminology is usually applied to the Deutschland Class Heavy Cruiser. These are unique because they used 2 of the Scharnhorst class ships' turrets with 11 inch guns. As heavy and light cruisers are classed by gun size, I like to call them Super Heavy Cruisers.

The scharnhorst has the same caliber as the pocket bb graff spee. Just use HE unless you see a cruiser then switch to AP buttt saying that AP is quite effective when at close range against other bbs 👍

You don't like the ship because you're doing exactly what you're doing in the beginning of the video.... It isn't a Sniper.... I've gotten Kraken and 140k+ games. It's a medium to low range Brawler to make use the Torps and the amazing secondaries. I regularly go against Iowas and Amagis, and come out on top

Spartan as a few have suggested the German battleships have phenomenal secondary armaments. Probably the most fun way to play it is get you a commander that focuses on secondary improvements. Hug the back sides of islands until their battle ships get close and jump out dump your torps close and watch your secondaries go to town.

I’d suggest giving it another whirl once you get a different captain on her like Otto. I managed to get a round with 160K damage and had 264 secondary hits. She’s a brawler and with rudder shift she dodges torps really well.

She’s built for medium range spartan, combine that with a secondary build via the commander with the “porcupine” skill (Otto?) and using Von Hipper as an Inspiration will give you over 8km in secondary range. The Sharny’s impressive secondaries combined with quick reloads on the main guns and torpedoes make her a lethal ship if used properly.

Scharny was a raider IRL, it was never meant to engage BBs. You are meant to engage DDs, CLs, and CAs. If you do get trapped by a BB you have torps, speed, and armor to get you out alive. If you encounter an angled BB switch to HE and lit’em up.

Hey Spartan, in rl the sharnhorse was built as a merchant ship killer hence why it only has 11in guns. But in game it has a high rate of fire which negates some of the lower caliber gun issues. Its a brawler, turtleback citedal armor scheme, most the critical areas ride low in the water which makes it difficult to hit. Bow tanking is its business, does it well with in the 10km range, fully upgraded and commander speced for secondaries they have a 7.4km range and alot of them. She well delete cruisers and its AP shells stacks damage on destroyers nicely so you don't need to switch ammo types. Thats my 2 cents worth lol

11in guns on a battleship don't lend themselves to long range engagements...everything I've seen tells me close range is the way to go, and preferably bullying cruisers, not slugging it out with well armored battleships...

Scharnhorst and Gneisenau were slated to recieve the same turrets and guns as Bismarck, but as the war went on, they decided that they weren't a high priority. The 11 inch guns were good enough for the role they were given as raiders when designed. The new turrets and guns would have slowed them down and cut their total number of guns by a third. They hunted supply convoys and their cruiser escorts, so the sacrifice in speed and rate of fire would've been detrimental. Having 6 15 inch guns would have only been acceptable if both battleships hunted together, but the chance of encountering a dreadnought escorted convoy was slim and a big risk.

After World War 1 Germany was no longer allowed to have big battleships so they created the term pocket battleship. Which basically is a cruiser with Battleship guns on it.

The main guns of the Scharnhorst and Gniesennau were 11". They were built under political and strategic conditions that dictated their design in 1936. Operationally they were not meant to challenge Great Britain, Russia, and France battleships directly but were meant to be commerce raid that would destroy cargo ships, oil tankers, cruisers, and destroyers. In this role it would excel. But in TRW, the Scharnhorst suffered against battleships. In the game, like cruisers are designed to destroy destroyers... the Scharnhorst is meant to destroy the cruisers.

I have a secondary build on the scharnhorst. And ist soo good. In my latest battle, I fighting a new Mexico in close quarters and I got like 56 sencondary hits in less than a minute. I recommend it.

Spartan the secondary battery build on the scharnhorst is brutal I got two double kill medals in one game with it. It batters battleships with it's weight of secondary batteries.

I'm on ps4 but you reminded me of something that happened last night in my 2nd game ever in the Scharny. It started to lag a little here and there, but not much and I was doing well with full health and good positioning to rape a cruiser. Just before I pulled the trigger, I got booted back to the main screen. I immediately tried to get back in a game and it loaded me back into the game I was just knocked out of except I found myself crashed into an island going full speed still, with half health and the Scharny in flames from bow to stern and hostile ships all around. I managed to sink one of the cruisers before I got hit with a flock of torps and went down.

The Scharny's primary targets are the torpedo threats. Then use his armor and guns to get close enough to BB's for his own torp strike. It's not rocket science.

I have the Scharnhorst and have pretty good success with her. I use her a lot and like the ship speed, and reload and turret travers time. Only draw back is lower caliber m as in guns and when i get torpedoed it takes a goid amount of damage.

With all respect of your opinion, I think this ship is the best premium ship in the game. You have insane 2ndary, you got 3 torps each side and 20s reload. And it makes a shitload of money btw, so I personally think this ship is awesome.

I regularly brawl with tirpits, Iowa etc... This ship is a brawler. Just put up a game over 125k damage. It has becomey favorite ship. Properly angled, I can tank against tier 7 battleships.

I Really like the shiny horse it’s in my top 5 favorites but you have to treat it like a cruiser with battleship armor and a up close brawler 13km or less. I have Hipper for Commander and secondary build 6.7km range

Scharnhorst has greater and A REAL turtleback protection than Bismarck and Tirpitz! It's the REAL bb i play! Bismarck/Tirpitz's turtleback are just simply a joke to main cuz...citadel is inevitable no matter how the range.....at least WG didn't make scharnhorst a joke ship since this ship can be a serious threat for cruisers and DD! Even other bb will have the difficulty to citadel this ship even higher calibers in good angle 😍 As for Bismarck and Tirpitz? I pass...they're not worth my time for now since their *turtleback do NOTHING about scharnhorst's greater turtleback protection*

Yes Premium Ships give bonuses to Silver earnings in a match. Usually the higher the tier the higher the bonus but also service cost of running the ships is higher so usually tier 5 and tier 6 premiums net the most silver per match because of their lower service cost

It all depends on how you play it, it is played more like a brawler cuz the secondarys are great and it has torpedos and on top of that fast firing main guns for a battleship. While not very good at hitting battleship citadels, it is perfect at hitting cruiser citadels. So if you see a cruiser giving broadside it is basically a free kill

The Scharnhorst is a tier 7 (pc) tier 6 (console) premium German ship that earns the reputation of being literally everything. It’s a battleship, but without battleship guns and it’s not a battle cruiser because it has armor nor cruiser in general because of its un-cruiserly like guns and not mention it’s destroyer like speed... But it still has the battleship icon. You use the Scharnhorst battleship look to fool people into thinking that they are fighting a battleship. It has broken optics, but it doesn’t matter because you can spam shells every 20 seconds with impunity. You use it’s guns to stomp inferior ships. You keep stroking them with AP until they are dead and get no income. You can one-shot peasants but you are not a battleship and you can not fight proper battleships at range unless you want to prove how idiot you are in the forum. This video is the perfect example of what not to do in this game, in the Scharnhorst specifically and Battleships in general. Sailing the the edge of the map and firing long range shots at opposing battleships is just poor decision making. Support your team, stick with the cruisers and destroyers. Your priorities are as follows #1 enemy DD's get them out of the game ASAP. #2 enemy cruisers #3 The lowest health ship you can shoot at #4 battleships. This loss was majorly on you.

Bismarck isn't in the game yet. At the end of the Search and Destroy Campaign in 3 weeks the Battleships will be in Lootboxes, in around 8-10 weeks, Battleships will be live.

I do not agree with your opinion Spartan. If you are playing this ship as a sniper, you are playing it wrong. Scharnhorst is the close quarters king and killing any other battleship in one on one if used right. The small main guns are not as important in cqb.
