More of these please. Reading about classic games is a virtue, but you brought this game to life. More please. It would be good if you could compare how two masters responded to similar situations according to different styles or aims.

💯👏👏 absolutely fantastic, really appreciate these explanations,am impressed with how these masters have a fluidity of thought, that remains consistent,as one move flows into the orther with purpose, the funny thing is when one understands the ideas the brain looks for similar patterns when we look at orther games thank you so much

So well said! The continuity of thought and following sound plans is how masters play. And only if you deeply understand their play, you can transfer it to your own games ☺️

Could white ever have taken on c6 creating multiple weaknesses or would it give counterplay?
@Dr.CansClinic5 ай бұрын
That was a thought but not as clean as the game continuation - as the knight became a hero on c5 and Black had no counterplay.

Dusunceleriniz icin cok tesekkur ederim, gercekten cok motive edici.

People tend to think that masters don't want to play simple chess and endgames vs weaker opponents, opting instead for flashy calculation and tactics. This, however, couldn't be further from the truth, as these GM's master endgames and piece trades superbly, unlike their less experienced counterparts. If you have less experience it's to your advantage to create chaos on the board, as the GM may miss something (just as you might) in the ensuing complications - the opposite is better for the GM.

Sometimes it's simply better to let you opponent make mistakes, while you just play simple and avoid blunders.

Reknown for his facility in rook endgames especially, Smyslov's style was clean and clear and based almost entirely on the positional aspects of the game. He also had a renaissance later in his career, qualifying for the Candidates matches in the 80's. Brilliant player, and according to reports a voice good enough to have trained as an opera singer if chess hadn't become his choice.
