I want to make this very clear. Yes this turtle is an endangered species… BUT… this one specifically is captive bred along with every other one that is in the United States legally. The demand for the pet trade of this turtle helps fund people to reproduce these. Sometimes there is a certain quota of turtles that needs to be released back into the wild by these breeders. There is a lot of paperwork required to import these turtles proving that these were captive bred and not taken from the wild. Thank you for understanding! 🙏

Yeh that doesn't justify that your keeping critically endangered species as pets I don't care if they're captive bred I'm Australian and indigenous, we don't even do this all breeding programs are for the survival of the species and to repopulate the wild anyone who legally or not deals in the trade of endangered species is no better then the smugglers who originally would've taken it there to be captive bred .. Australia isn't in the business of selling critically endangered species to kids on KZbin

@@tim211100bro u don’t understand. The zoo breeders can only breed and care for so many animals. By allowing the commercial breeding of these endangered animals, and forcing them to release a certain quota of the animals, more would be done to help them. So it’s actually the opposite of smugglers

This is why I face palm whenever a pet shop recommends them as an algae eater. I got one as a kid for a 10 gal tank and the darn thing grew as long as the tank. Plus you need to actually feed them, they cant live just by sucking on your glass. They only really eat the algae when they are small. (edited due to phone auto correct having a field day)

What’s up with this guy and these plastic plants. I mean they look tacky and weird in these tanks since all of his videos are about animals that seem to all have different cares and requirements. @@kivanc1514 then why have fake plants to begin with? I mean it’s totally fine if it’s not toxic or whatever but the tank dosent look great with them even if it’s for a pop of color or whatever I just feel like there’s no need to buy them unless for an actual reason as it’s kinda “supporting” fake plants for future fish owners. I’m genuinely not being rude I’m just kinda confused on the point to the fake plants then since I don’t believe these fishes need them but I’m only an average person not a know it all so I could be wrong lol.

@@pinkponypuppy9586Fake plants don’t offer the benefit of filtration and oxygenation the way live plants do, but they still offer cover and a more interesting environment, and as long as they aren’t harmful for fish there’s literally no problem with them And as he said real plants aren’t really an option with these guys

He told me there were thousands of them and that there not endangered and no one has successfully captive bred one ever. He said there were thousands dying because of the food trade and it was blamed on the pet trade. He said no one could ever captive breed them because he thinks it has to do with there natural environment with the limestone and ph levels chasing because of the constant rain. Is this true someone let me know also beautiful turtle your very lucky
