AMAZING MEETING FILIPINOS FROM CANADA WHILE AT A LOCAL CARINDERIA IN AKLAN...
This day, I head from Antique to Aklan. Strolling with my motor, I take a look at some raw coastline areas, enjoy the Province vibes, and then find myself in a small town near Caticlan. There, I stop to eat and find myself chatting with some wonderful Filipinos who have lived and worked in Canada. This was an awesome moment. Really enjoyed chatting, and the food Kuya cooks is great!
After the Filipino Canadian hangout... I find myself at a secret white sand beach nearby Boracay. Yes, the mainland of Aklan is home to many beautiful spots. We checkout a few before heading for the Boracay boat terminal...
But I head off to Mindoro!

Singkamas is jicama in English, not turnip, which is entirely different despite having a similar shape.

Singkamas is Jicama in English eaten raw with sweet flavour or with vinegar sauce. It is also used for salads, fresh lumpia. Turnip is another type of root vegetable, it can be bitter, cooked with sinigang, stew etc.

Wow! That drone shot of a series of white sand beach coves in Aklan. Looks like a beautiful place, off the beaten track. In plain view was Boracay island. Wonder why it isn't a more popular place, it being so close to Boracay. Hinugtan in Buruanga if I'm not mistaken. Probably worth a visit sometime! Thanks for the revelation Kulas!

Kulas, you’ve been traveling my province Aklan before I have. Although I’ve heard of Buruanga (one of my aunts taught elementary there) and Hinugtan beach, I’ve never been there. Only been to Antique once during high school. I sang at their fiesta with the then popular Sallador Band when I was 14 during one summer vacation. That river you commented about is the Aklan river, and yes, it’s clear and beautiful. I really miss Aklan but hoping to be there this time next year for good, fingers crossed!

They are making rum in Panay in Antique 🥃 Same in Batangas and Laguna they are making rum 🥃 And you can see Boracay in a distance. And you had a turnip aka sinkamas that is white and ressembles the white sand 🍠🏖 And it has vinegar and salt and chilies 🍠🍶🧂🌶 And Ate Minnie lives in Ontario for half a century. And the guy in the eatery was born in Northern Canada 👦🍽🍴🥄🔪 And they had butternut squash and eggplant that is stir fried and an egg omelette with tomato in the eatery 🎃🍆🍅 And you had a cucumber shake on the eatery 🥒🧋 And you went in Mindoro in 7 years ago you were stuck in the south wind on the shore 🍃🌬🌊🏝 You arrived in the night on Aklan right after the sunset 🌇🏝🏖

*BURUANGA* is the farthest town of Aklan Province from its Provincial Capital at 81km. Though its only 16km away from nearest airport, Boracay Airport. It is also the Westernmost Town of Aklan. Buruanga is the Mother Town of Malay and Boracay Island. Malay is the youngest town of Aklan. They separated from Buruanga in 1960's.
