Here is a refresher on my video, how to not be awkward in conversations :) Whether you're meeting parents or just going to some events this December, I hope this helps! kzbin.info/www/bejne/bH6cl4mroZp8Y7c

Great tips. OK folks, my parents met the man I ended up marrying when I was 40 (he was 48). And if anyone thinks it gets easier with age, I am here to tell you: IT DOES NOT. I was a nervous wreck and so was he. And guess what, ditto for my parents (I did not date in high school and only minimally in college, and they had met only one other person I'd dated). So yep, there was some awkwardness involved, but that's to be expected and it's OK! I met my husband's ginormous family at their big family Xmas party. Oh my goodness, that was a lot. I found it helpful in that circumstance to be DOING something. "Let me help get those trays of Christmas cookies ready."

I think it is really really important to make a distinction between you meeting your significant other's parents and your parents meeting your s.o's parents. You meeting your s.o's parents is a very normal part of dating, and while there is no set time, I do think you shouldn't wait too long to do it (unless the relationship with the parents is abusive or really awful!) - definitely before getting engaged. Your parents meeting your significant other's parents... For me, that REALLY sets the pressure, and should happen only once you approach engagement or are already engaged.

Perfect timing of this vid! I’m flying down to meet my boyfriend’s family for the first time tomorrow (I’ve already met his parents and brother but yet to meet his sister and everyone else)

The first time I met my companion's (girlfriend) parents, I had a panic attack and threw up *over* their toilet (the emphasis on the "over" was intentional because it didn't go in the toilet) 😬 So basically, I can totally get people's fear because I went through it 🙊😂
