Meeting Point: United by Pain. Driven by Love - Road Safety 360 by Metropistas

No one knows pain like a mother who has lost a child. It is described by many as being like watching her future fall apart in an instant.
A mother's love is immense, and it is this love that drives them to act, to fight for a world in which no mother has to go through what they have experienced. This is how the first episode of Punto de Encuentro was born, a Metropistas social responsibility program, where two mothers, Liz López and Nimsi Martínez, meet for the first time, unfortunately united by pain, but transforming that suffering into a purpose of life to prevent more accidents on the roads.
Thanks to an initiative that Metropistas carries out annually in favor of road safety, they have become ambassadors of road safety: Liz in the year 2020-21 and Nimsi in the year 2022-23.
Liz was named a Metropistas Road Safety Ambassador in 2021 and starred in the "Last Call" campaign, where she recounts the shocking story of her daughter Summer's accident. The young woman suffered a serious accident during the early hours of the New Year in 2016 while driving on the highway. Summer has survived 22 head surgeries and is diagnosed with a severe concussion that leaves her confined to a wheelchair for life without the ability to communicate verbally or remember her past. The campaign had a huge impact, reaching more than 2 million people and generating hundreds of comments from people who identified with her story.
Our other protagonist is Nimsi Martínez, Metropistas road safety ambassador for the "Dale Casco" campaign, launched in December 2022. This campaign is inspired by the real case of her son, Oscar Issam López Martínez, who suffered a fatal accident in motorboat, on August 24, 2021 for not wearing a safety helmet. The message of this campaign also reached more than 2 million people during a period of three months.
Both mothers, driven by their love for their children and the need to prevent further tragedies, have managed to reach millions of people with their powerful messages.
