Besides, they said during the F.E.A.R. Academy (great time saver on that one) that they were going to stress test Mike's internet before this launched. So they at least tried to see if they could do it live. It's unfortunate, but I'm a lot more comfortable knowing that they at least didn't just shrug their shoulders and phone it in. I was somewhat wary of that since it seems they pre-recorded both Fear Academies at roughly the same time (Ellen calls F.E.A.R. the first Hallowstream despite Fatal Frame premiering the week before). But I'm pretty sure it was Andy on chat during F.E.A.R., and he seems like a straight shooter. So if he says they're doing what they can to try and get Mike and Ellen live, I have no reason to doubt that. I just hope they get it sorted before the final co-op stream. All of that said, I am a little sad that Luke's FMV Zone Starring Mike will quite likely be pre-recorded as well. Andy's one of my favorites when it comes to interacting with chat (first favorite is Jane), and it'll be unfortunate to miss out on that for the one part of Hallowstream I always look most forward to.

Fairly certain the people complaining are the ones begging and pleading for them to notice their comments… agree 100% better without them feeling the need to constantly pander to the comments. They seem more relaxed, natural, and like they’re actually enjoying themselves more rather than just “working”

I honestly prefer these prerecorded because they are more immersed in the game, and there aren’t any interruptions in the form of reading comments and/or shoutouts from us let’s face it significantly less entertaining people. It really gives off more of the let’s play video vibes which I really enjoy.

Yep. Superchats are a handy way for viewers to chime in and show their appreciation, but on especially big streams they can turn into near-constant interruptions that detract from the atmosphere. When a game's heavy on lore and story like this, it can be more immersive when our hosts have fewer distractions competing for their attention.

genuinely don't understand why these premieres are getting so many "concerns" from the live chat/audience lol, for one this seems to be becoming a trend in the community which I rly don't like tbh like after the IGN buyout every single move or change is attributed to that with an undertone of "these channels are changing/ending" which like............c'mon. we truly don't need to be such doomers for everything, they've stated clearly why they're prerecording these and we've seen firsthand why it's necessary in oxtra's FEAR video and also on a practical level there's this handy thing called UI where everytime you play a video it will say "live" or "premiere" so you can easily tell when it's live or not 😅 and if you go to their channel you can also see which games will be livestreamed and which ones will be prerecorded, they're not all gonna be prerecorded (we'll have SIX livestreams ahead fyi) so again I don't get why people just immediately assume the worst. chill out yall

FYI, the radio will come through the game if you turn the controller speaker volume all the way down in your system settings. Just hit the PS button, click the controller, and turn it down to 0.

I am so glad the remake is faithful. I went through a major depressive phase in 2005 and for two weeks just played the original game over and over and over. I would reach the end, and just restart. Ended up ten star ranking it even though I wasn't trying. It actually really helped me get through it. It's an amazing game. But I also I'd love to see a SH3 remake too, Sexy Beams and all!

@@CrackedConker Hey, it didn't cure me. I am now diagnosed bipolar and medicated but that took a couple more years. Everytime I dipped hard into the depression half of that mood disorder, I would fixate on some piece of media and just play, watch or read it repeatedly until I could cope better again.

@@varalys Yeah, that wasn't the game helping you. That was literally just you fixating on media as an actual manifestation of your depression/laziness. Sort of helpful to know the difference. The fact that you don't has me wondering if you were ever truly diagnosed, because no mental health professional would agree that the game "helped you get through it."

She understood that having a source of escapism was extremely useful when I was suffering through events and emotions I had no ability to affect myself. Thanks to the mental tools she gave me, I've not generally had the same intense repetitive episodes. But for example, currently my father is dying of cancer, I cannot affect this situation and it upsets me. So I play "No Man's Sky" until I feel better.

As for whether it's live or not is neither here nor there for me. Either way it's fun content. I actually just wanted to mention how great it was when they were discussing how they didn't want to follow pyramid head. Saying how they should let him do his thing while James does his own. The reason this stuck out to me is because Andy said, ( and I quote) "live and let live". As he was beating on one of the vomiters with a board with nails sticking out of the end.

On the topic of arbitrary blocks in video games, I recall one in Alpha Protocol where you're at a shipping yard and have to work out how to move a stack of crates with a crane so you can get through an area, but they're stacked unevenly so even I, an out-of-shape gamer and *not* a highly trained secret agent, could easily have climbed over the stack.

To be fair to them, apparently this happened to a lot of people. I don't know if something changed with the route the player takes, but it seems like that first encounter is weirdly out of the way in the remake, but not in the original.

23:25 I just released my first horror game and it's a tough balance to make the protagonist seem afraid without taking the player out of it. You want the player to be supplying the 'scared' vocals, and the character doing it can be kind of distracting. But I still did have them do it once or twice. I haven't figured it out yet.

The one thing I really appreciated from this remake was needing more than one prompt to do creepy things like reach into wall holes or jump down drops. It really gives a little something extra where you have to actively control the PC through THEIR fear. Hope your game does well!

Man, I remember setting the controller speakers to OFF on PS4 because they sound terrible and I hate them, but I can’t find that option on PS5 and I get to search through the cluttered options menu of EVERY SINGLE GAME to disable it. It still sounds terrible.
