i heard it was because everyone somehow found out his real name and would call him by that and disney didnt like it because saying his real name in front of little kids would ruin the experience. its kinda like telling kids that santa isnt real - you just dont do it. he didn't leave on his own terms because i remember him saying it wasnt his choice to leave.

actually, he got fired because he started getting lines under his eyes and disney said he was getting to old to play peter pan, so they offered him a different character to play, but he didn't like that idea, so he left.

you mentioned he got fired because of his age. Was it because he was to old to play Peter Pan? As for his name getting well known that should not be a reason to be fired. If he's well known, Disney should be proud that this particular person is popular and they should have kept him.
