I absolutely love how this video showed various experiences. Children typically don't immediately take to their new parents, although those are the videos that get the most attention. These children are placed in the arms of strangers. They are confused, scared, and experiencing abandonment all over again as they are taken away from the only people and home they have ever known. It can be traumatizing. While eventually there is usually a happy ending, the first few days, week, and even months can be incredibly challenging for the child and for the parents. It's not all rainbows and sunshine. Thanks you for showing this side of adoption and normalizing these experiences.

Ever since I was 17yo I always knew that I wanted to adopt one day , I'm now 25yo still not ready financially nor am i married or have a partner and never was... I can't wait to meet someone that shares the same hope as me.. I'd absolutely love to have kids on my own but I just can't wait to embrace and adopt a beautiful innocent child one day ❤ although the rules and concept of adoption is a bit different for my religious view it still an amazing gift of God for both the parents and the child

That IS their child. They are their real parents. Just because you don't give a damn whether these children have a home or family or anyone to love them doesn't mean others have to ignore them

Personally, my husband and I adopted from overseas because it was the best choice for expanding our family. In our state, birth mothers have 30 days to change their mind after their child is placed with an adoptive family. We waited for a total of four years, and we were chosen by a total of three birth mothers, all of whom changed their minds at the last minute. We had already formed an attachment with the babies, and then we had to give them back. When we tried foster care adoption, the same thing happened (plus one disruption due to a child's severe emotional needs that were endangering the safety of our biological children). When we adopted from India in 2006, the children were already available for adoption. The birth parents' rights were fully terminated. We waited about 6 months to be matched with our daughter, who was 8 months old at the time. Two months later, we traveled to India for 2 weeks in order to meet her and legally adopt her. She is now eleven years old and she is still with us. International adoption gave us an opportunity for a stable and permanent adoption. It's not the right choice for some families, but it was for ours.

Tiffany Warner Sorry to hear about your ordeal. It is understandable that you opted for international adoption. I adopted a newborn here in the states. Never met the mom, picked up baby from the hospital at 3 days old but was always dreading being separated from her. Luckily for us, nobody came back to claim her. We adopted her 2 yrs ago.

Why does it matter? Do only American children deserve families?
