It was cool that you slept on the river bed and glad that no flood came! How was your back in the morning really, I bet that slight angle kinda helped tho! Loved the buddy burner! I think I will teach the kids how to make that and make a project out of that one for them! Nice video as always! Blessings and Take Care

Bob, thanks for returning my post. I like the Walmart comment, half my paycheck goes there every two weeks! Lol. All my gear, except for my pack, is from there so I know what you mean brother. There are videos where people rig up a sleeping bag for the purpose. I used para cord to string up a bag myself last weekend but I've not tried it out yet. I am planning an overnighter, my first with a hammock, for mid October. So, I'm gonna try it out this weekend. I got out of the ice dumping. My wife and the fifth grade teachers all did it though! Then they challenged the principal. She made a fundraiser out of it and whichever grade level raised the most got to drop the buckets on her. They raised about 400 bucks for ALS and donated it in the name of the school. Pretty cool! Peace brother.
@Bob808Knight
@Bob808Knight 10 жыл бұрын
jhiestand1 $400 for the fundraiser not bad...another place to check for a used gear would be thrift stores and flea markets. I found quite a few things here too. And sometimes Amazon runs good special. But I do have a sleeping bag idea...I'll be posting pictures of it on my Facebook page. Swing by if you get a chance

Sami Pekkarinen hi Sami....the sleeping pad did move a little bit in my hammock. (I'm seriously considering getting a under quilt(.But If it wasn't for my wool blanket are probably would have froze to death that night...that was a really cool tent site. Surprisingly I slept great. Probably cuz I made a pine needle mattress out of one of my 50 gallon drum liner bags.hey I noticed you uploaded a video I'll be watching that tonight :-)

Bob, another fantastic video! Great scenery, lots of fun, and that unique 808knight ingenuity! Question for you. I have been experimenting with hammocking in my back yard. I tried a sunshade/reflectix pad with some success. However, it's a pain in the arse cause it moves all over. How does that ridge rest work for you and what brand of hammock do you use?
@Bob808Knight
@Bob808Knight 10 жыл бұрын
jhiestand1 thanks brother..the hammock I use is a ENO double nested. I really do not have a problem with the therm-a-rest slipping out..it did slide down a little bit but not too bad..the problem I encountered was the therm-a-rest did not protect my sides from getting cold...so I think I'm going to check in to using a under quilt should solve that problem.I really hope that answered your question if you have any more feel free to ask..

Bob, I did check out your facebook page. We may be on similar paths here brother. I have one of those ozark trail bags as my regular bag. I too was thinking of making an underquilt out of one. Primarily because they are so compressible. I have been experimenting with a regular sleeping bag to see what works, then I thought I could pick up an ozark trail 40 degree bag in a rectangle shape to copy my experiments to a more compressible option....we shall see.

jhiestand1 cool brother. It's nice to have somebody else working on the same project.I haven't decided if I want to cut a 2 inch in diameter hole in the end of the bag or a 2 inch slit.of course I'm sew the seams up..then make a little pocket to put some 550 or shock cord in there. you want you are more than welcome to take pictures of your project and put them on my Facebook page. I'll be interesting ti see how you solve the problem with the end.. (hope that made sense)of course when I get mine done. I will post pictures of mine so you can take a look at it.a great evening and thank you for your comment.

Ok, so after flopping around for twenty minutes I managed to get the sunshade to be where I needed it....then I was going to just relax for a few. Then I fell asleep until after midnight and the chill had set in. I primarily felt it up around the sides of my shoulders. So I am looking for options. You tube is full of super expensive underquilt setups. I generally live by econo-me standards, so I have been looking into diy poncho liners. When you get your set up all together can you put together a video? Fyi, I had never heard of the bucket challenge thing until I saw your vid. The following week the entire school, where my wife and I teach, is dumping ice on themselves!
@Bob808Knight
@Bob808Knight 10 жыл бұрын
jhiestand1 something I've been thinking about trying is getting a sleeping by unzipping it and using it as an under quilt...I know what you mean by being on a budget...I was saying if I can't find it at Walmart I don't need it lol...yes I will be doing a video of mine when I get it all set up the way I want it. But I'm still working out the bugs I'm sure you know how that is..oh yes. Ice bucket challenge lol. Shane called me and said he tagged me and he was uploading the video in 2 hours. So I had to come up with something in that time.. It did work out quite well though. + it is a worthy cause...have you done the challenge yet?
@WoodsTrekkinAdventures

Sounds good in theory bob, but I'm working from an iPad here and haven't even been able to figure out how to put a picture of me on my you tube account. :( I probably would start posting pics and videos of things if I had a computer. Ours got old and went to computer heaven. We, of course, have computers- but they are school issue so we keep those for work etc. About the UQ, I zipped the bag shut and tied out four corners with zip ties and paracord. It worked but just wasn't wide enough. I then folded in half the other way because it gave me a few extra inches that way. I have not tried it out yet. No sewing yet. I'm a little fearful of my wife's semi antique sewing machine. If I mess it up I'm in big doo doo! Lol.

@Bob808Knight 10 жыл бұрын
jhiestand1 I know what you mean I do everything from my cell phone and it's taking forever to figure everything out.. that's one thing I do not know how to do yet is sew lol but I've been watching a lot of KZbin videos and I recently purchased the sewing machine from the thrift store..I'll definitely do some tests sewing before I do it on the bag. Lol so wish me luck.

I understand a lot of water(plastic) bottles screw onto the sawyer.Since its easier to fill a bottle,I wonder if itd be best to just carry a bottle? Banana bread yum.Ws the pad doing it for ya at 40 ish temps in the hammock?I like that second place you went,canal lake,with the cliffs and rocks!Looked like an awesome campsite too!If it wasn't gonna rain I'd not even done a tent there!I like the Ozark Trail bag...it is warm...but 32 degrees is pushing it a bit.Quit with the sexy olive oil talk man.I'm afraid of what kinda camping tips vids this is gonna lead to.

Theron Miller Hi Theron. ...yes this order will accept plastic water bottles. The only problem yes I was carrying the great value water bottles and they are cheaply made. I'm afraid it wouldn't thread onwithout leaking..the banana bread was freaking excellent. That's the first time I've had an oven on an overnight. :-)the pad work out pretty well...it really help that I had the wool blankets though. I really want to get a under quilt for my hammock....I've got an idea of something I want to try for the next couple weeks that might work. I'm sure we'll see if you post it on Facebook lol.if it was going to rain I would not have camp on in the middle of the creek on that rock. Knowing my luck I'd wake up downstream 10 miles lol..what do olive oil lol. I'll leave it at that lol ..thanks for the comment brother...

Like the POV to a point but after about 10 mins it is a little drunken kungfu master LOL I made it though, looks like you guys got some good trekking, How many miles did you go? Also on ground like that its not the same a flatland, how were bugs?? Ken can put some of us younger guys to shame on a trail, I am walking everyday but not adding a pack yet, I carry a haversack type bag.

Lolhonestly I'm not really sure on the miles I think 6 on the first dayand 7 on the second day...but don't quote me on that.there really was no bugs I think it's because I got in the forties that night. I'm sure that helps out quite a bit.yes ken is an Ironman. He is a definitely hard one to keep up with lol..that's is one item id really like to get. is a haversack..I'm not sure if I'm going to make one or purchase one ..who knows:).
