Meg was all about dreams and fairytales. Ben loved Maria. When he lost her he grieved for three years and then tried to move on with Meg. Yes he did love Meg too. But it was difficult for him. He did still have some feelings for Maria when she came back but I think he just buried his feelings for Maria because he didn't want to hurt Meg as he knew Maria was tougher then Meg. He also felt he had to give Meg her dreams as he promised and Ben was one for keeping his word. Ben and Meg were just a dream. Ben and Maria were realistic and a nautral love.

Everyone ruling out meg to be the best bust she had no shame. She ran out on Tim chasing cyber lover turned out Ben never Got over his wife Maria. And had the show continued Ben and Maria would have eventually found their way back to each other.
