Just FYI, Rattlesnake Ridge is 11.5 miles, but it's point to point. If you'd done "the whole thing," you would have actually gone 23 miles, unless you had a second car parked on the other side. The parking lot the other hiker referred you to is at the other end of the same trail you were on. Another thing to note is that, since that parking lot is at Rattlesnake Lake and much closer to the Rattlesnake Ledge (the name of the place you were trying to get to, the ridge refers to the whole thing), it's almost always a total zoo with crowds of people and cars. As it turns out, Gavin accidentally navigated you to the better parking lot for a more peaceful hike.

As a Washingtonian I can say, it looks like that literally everywhere on the western side of the mountains. Like if it's not city paved it's probably forest that looks like that. It's incredible. Like parks are just ringed by giant trees because it was easier to just not cut them down when they cut all the other ones down
