I used to have a 40-60 minute commute each day to work. Now, my drive is 12-14 minutes. I have more time for my personal life, I have more energy, and my overall wellbeing has increased. Our daily commute makes a huge difference! I cringe now at the thought of driving up to an hour to work. Being able to have a short commute to work is a real privilege I do not take for granted.

I travel over an hour each way, daily. I live in rural Vermont....my husband drives the same as he works down the road from me, but we are opposite shifts so have to drive ourselves. It does wear on you after so long in doing it but it’s worth it for us. We have a beautiful home In the country, it’s absolutely worth it for us to not have to pay the kind of mortgage like the city has....minimum 1,300$ monthly where we pay with insurance 850$. Not a huge difference but def enough to make it worth it for is

I dont understand why a massive country like america doesnt have a much better and accessible rail network like the UK, here u can go anywhere by train!
@igeekone6 жыл бұрын
That's the problem. Massive country = massively uneconomical to build a connected rail network.

That ride doesn't seem so bad because she's taking some kind of commuter shuttle rather than a city bus that's packed like sardines for the poor. These are regular professional level commuters so no drama on your ride in. I'm sure nearly the whole distance would have cell data service so these days it's not much of a loss to your day.

Mega. Ha ha. I commuted for most of 1987-2001 to Toronto or even north of, with 60 miles one way minimum and 110 miles max. If I left early enough for work, commute time was between 1-2.5 hrs to work, and 1.5-3.5 to get home. In the worst snowstorm one evening, it took 6 hrs to get home. Granted, I was single then. I’ve been working from home for most of the past 15 yrs

At least on the bus she can rest a little bit instead of having to drive and being totally alert during the whole drive. I wouldn't go to the extent of falling asleep but she can at least put her head down and rest and day dream for part of the trip.

I would've called them hyper or ultracommuters. I'm just happy I can afford to be a bum, observe life lazily from home and watvh the pointless running around in circles of humanity from my comfortable home. Getting out now and then for a hike or grocery shopping. Waiting for the inevitable that 'll happen to us all.
