The yellowing of the resin could be made a feature... If you put yellow tinsel in you might get a look like yellow rutile quartz or putting in fake leaves or dollar store moss (maybe add white color) could make yellow moss opal... If it yellows very dark you could imbed bug or plant or cement fossil for amber look
