Mark Maples, age 15, was killed on the Matterhorn in May 1964 when he unbuckled his seat belt and tried to stand up as the bobsled approached the peak. He lost his balance, fell onto the track below, and crushed his skull. He was the first fatality in Disneyland history. Dolly Regene Young, age 48, was killed on January 3, 1984, when she was catapulted from her bobsled and was hit by another one on a different track."
