I had never played the first Mega Man back in the day, but as soon as I saw this game in Nintendo Power, I knew I had to have it. Bought it with my birthday money when it came out in the summer of 89. I have fond memories of my best friend and the time and I having a sleepover and staying up to beat it. I also remember we thought Mega Man had died at the end, given how he just kind of fades away, leaving only his helmet, and how the music playing while he was walking sounded kind of sad. Lots of memories tied to this one.

I bought a used Megaman CD at a flea market it has all the Megaman games from the old Nintendo. There's 10 different Megaman games on it. Gave $5 for it. Money well spent! II and III are my favorites. I have Megaman I to Megaman X on that CD.
This soundtrack is legendary, it’s far and away the best of the whole NES saga. The “guitar”-solo in Air Man’s stage might be the best part of any song in any Mega Man game.

@@aliciasmo Mega Man 3’s soundtrack is good but i don’t know, there’s a couple things about it that keep it below MM2 for me. The instrumentation sounds like the music has a stuffy nose (I can’t describe it but the instruments sound a little hollow and compressed moreso than usual) and often times it’s sliiiiightly off beat. Don’t get me wrong, the compositions are quite good, but MM2’s ost is just so snappy and precise that i gotta give it up for that game

I swear everything you said in your description is accurate as hell. This one is my favorite in the series but I don't blame anyone for liking part 3 more. When I was a kid, I was blown away by these graphics. I felt like I was playing a cartoon. But you are right, those bosses at wilys castle are unfair. I absolutely hate that wall and even the last guy, though fairly easy, can get you raged if you don't have the bubble. The music is some of the best the nes has to offer. Wilys castle alone is proof of that.
@NintendoComplete6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, these graphics were unbelievable when it was new. Some of those end bosses, like the dragon and the Guts Man tank, have so much personality to them, let alone how they dwarf the bosses in many 16-bit games! Capcom became awesome on NES after they started developing their own games.

This game is still my favorite of the series. I think a lot of it is nostalgia, but every time I play it also just feels so good, and the music is perfect. I actually got it first, because the original was such a limited release in the States. But when they re-released Megaman I went out and got it. I was pretty disappointed at first, since it had two less robot masters and not even a picture of a Wily Castle. But I grew to appreciate the magnet beam and the abilities of the weapons and the difficulty. Never did like that "sliding" bug when trying to stop after picking up a power-up capsule, though.

Here are my overviews of the master weapons and items from Mega Man 2: P Shooter - Standard weapon. Infinite Bullets (obviously). Air Shooter (A) - This weapon can be good against airborne enemies, Crash Man, the fire enemies in Quick Man's stage and those Sniper Walkers in Flash Man's stage...but it also consumes 2 bars of ammo.....which means you can use Air Shooter a total of 14 times before it runs out of ammo. Crash Bomber (C) - This CAN be a nice weapon (since it blows walls out) and can be a pretty good choice to use against Quick Man, Flash Man and the Sniper Walkers. However, it's ammo consumption is pretty high (4 bars per use), which means you can use it a total of 7 times before it runs out. Time Stopper (F) - This can be useful in freezing enemies and traps (to bypass them). However, you can't switch weapons while Time Stopper is in use. Quick Boomerang (Q) - This is actually a pretty good weapon to use on those ground "springer" enemies that roam in some stages (and most of the enemies in the game). Also, it's ammo consumption is 1/8th of an weapon energy bar per use (making it a tie with this Boomerang and Screw Crusher for the lowest weapon energy bar ammo consumption in the entire Mega Man (Classic) Series). That's 224 uses of Quick Boomerang, mind you! (28 times 8 is 224). Quick Boomerang can also auto-fire and you can fire 4 Quick Boomerangs maxmium). Metal Blade (M) - If there's one thing that the Mega Man (Classic) Series has taught me, it's that any weapon that starts with "blade" is OP beyond belief. Metal Blade is no exception. This weapon is probably the most OP weapon in the entire Mega Man (Classic) Series, bar none (there are multiple reasons for that). 1: You can fire in 8 directions - that's right, I said EIGHT directions. 2: It's ammo consumption is ridiculously low (it takes off 1/4th of an weapon energy bar per use, meaning you have 112 uses before you can run out. (Metal Blade is tied with Needle Cannon for the third lowest weapon energy ammo consumption in the entire Mega Man (Classic) Series). 3: It's decently powerful, it affects 4 of the bosses in the game and it affects all but 3 of the regular enemies in the game. 4: Due to a glitch, you can never run out if you use Metal Blade: use Metal Blade 3 times, pause and you should see the weapon energy bar not go down at all - it's called the "Infinite Weapon Ammo Glitch" for that reason. (I believe Shadow Blade and Needle Cannon has the "Infinite Weapon Ammo Glitch" too, although I believe you have to do the "Infinite Weapon Ammo Glitch" in Mega Man 3 slightly different from the one in Mega Man 2).

I do so love Mega Man 2, and the soundtrack is nothing short of legendary. What can I say that those 80s kids who praised this to Hell and back haven't? Nintendo Power and all those old dudes say that Mega Man 2 is their favorite in the series, as it introduced all the mainstay elements like 8 instead of 6 Robot Masters and the Wily Castle map screens and the spiritual predecessor to Rush, the "Items". Megaman 3 soundtrack was damn close, and Megaman 1 and 4 also had great tunes, but 2 has that extra level of compositional mastery that is untouched. Hardest Wiley Levels too, but the easiest robot fights. You combine the music of 2, the UI and level design of 3, the gameplay of 4 and boss design from each, you’d have the perfect Megaman game.

Oh, Mega Man 2.....how I loved it SO much as a kid.....but now MY favorite Mega Man (Classic) game is Mega Man 4......(yeah, I know Mega Man 4 gets some hate for NO reason/very stupid reasons).......but yeah, I still love Mega Man 2 as well....even if the Metal Blade IS RIDICULOUSLY BROKEN. No, anybody shouldn't consider themselves an NES fan without playing Mega Man, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, Mega Man 4, Mega Man 5 (to a reasonable extent), Mega Man 6, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2 (USA) and Super Mario Bros 3 at least once (and more, but I would be all day if I tried to list the classics here). Fun piece of trivia: I actually played and OWNED Mega Man 2 as the first Mega Man in the Mega Man (Classic) Series - when I was around 9 or so. Another piece of trivia: This is going to sound funny, but I thought there was SIX or so separate Mega Mans in the Mega Man (Classic) NES Series (you know, one Mega Man for each game), but once I was in my late teens/early twenties, I figured that "oh, wait, there's ONLY one Mega Man in the Mega Man (Classic) NES Series"! (Blame my 9 year old mind for that). Had I played every Mega Man (Classic) game as a 9 year old, I would've thought that there was TWENTY or so Mega Mans in the entire Mega Man (Classic) Series.

Alidar Jarok No doubt :) You ought to grab yourself a copy of 3 if you like this one. It plays a lot like 2 but it made some big improvements. It's definitely my favorite of the 6.

The way you did Heat Man's stage, no chance for me. Item 2 over that gap with the blocks, nonstop ride till the floor is back underneath me.

This is definitely the best MegaMan.

36:35 Are you kidding me?! My whole life I thought that the platforms themselves were coming apart, so you had less options for where to jump. Way to do it the hard way, me! lol

Truthfully, imo I think the game is perfect. Like, literally perfect. I think this is the only videogame I have ever played where I have 0 negative thoughts on it

Gee dude, you have some balls. :P Clearing Heatman's stage's platform section without Item 2! I could never do that, whenever I was attempting to make a video about this game. :p

Mega Man 2 has a lot of improvement from the first game, and then most future Mega Man games use these features. The game is where Mega Man fights Doctor Wily and eight new Robot Masters that he created (Metal Man, Air Man, Bubble Man, Crash Man, Flash Man, Quick Man, Heat Man, and Wood Man, numbered 9-16 because there are 8 others before them in the first game). It’s where Mega Man uses these red devices with various function (before Mega has Rush). I believe that after MM2’s Robot Masters were created by Wily, they were born good and never wanted to listen to him, so he forced them to do his evil bidding by mind-controlling them, like he did to the first game’s RMs (ask Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot’s first book about it). After Mega Man defeated these RMs, he freed them from Wily's mind-control, and then Doctor Light adopted these new RMs as his new sons. They are doing jobs (I can say the same to the RMs from the first game). Boy, I want a remake that has the same graphics and bonus stuff as Mega Man 11. And/or, a 3-D action-adventure remake/version that does all this, and the 3-D part would be like Kirby and the Forgotten Land in 2022 rather than Mega Man X7 (that game was weird).🙏 Wood Man is my favorite in MM2.

There is only 6 robot masters in the first game😊

@@chrisspearline767 There is a remake of the first game called “Mega Man Recharged” in 2006. It added two more Robot Masters. Not sure if that version of the game is canon, but this game is there to make the first game consistent with its sequels.
