I think it would be an elemental attack based, where Wood Man will fall to fire more than metal blade. Wood hates every elemental attack such as wind, fire and axe based attacks

About the Metal Blades, there is actually a glitch that enables you to have INFINITE ammo for it. Normally, it needs four shots to drain one clip. However, if you fire less than four shots (so that you won't drain a clip), go to the weapon screen, and resume playing, the counter resets. This means that you can pretty much have one clip of Metal Blade ammo and never run out.

It has to do with multiple ennemies getting destroyed in a short amount of frames. You see, all random drops are dependent of a 'random' variable that gets updated (more or so) randomly each frame. So if you destroy 2 ennemies on the same frame and the 'random' variable is on a valid drop, both of the ennemies will drop the same thing. If you use the mega buster, you don't destroy ennemies on the same frames, but the item drop rate never increases itself. *I once got 4 1ups just from using leaf shield on the birds, it was pretty amazing.

Quick Man first is actually faster in the zipless TAS I'm making. Which is sad because there's a really cool Item 2 ride you can do to skip over both the horizontal sections with the hotheads and the mechs.

The shell guys actually throw their shells at you if you hit them with the Metal Blade on either difficulty. Just shooting them with the Mega Buster just does normal damage.

Actually, with the Crab Shell guys in Bubble Man's stage, they'll do that in normal mode. You just have to shoot them with the Metal Blade and POW they're gone

Hey Gemini Crash Bomber is really useful against the purple bunnies in Wood Man's stage it kills them in one hit and there's only 6 bunnies in the level so you can't run out of engery unless you miss!

I'm actually playing through the NES Mega Mans for the first time just now in Legacy Collection, and I did what I could to make it interesting for myself. I came to the conclusion that you didn't do as much showoffery in these first two games at least compared to the other ones, heh. Granted, I know you like some of those more, especially 4, and sometimes the first few games really don't let you have your way a lot of times. Among other issues and certain horrid boss fights, half the enemies are immune to the weapon you'd want to use on them. Like the big frogs for example. They are stationary, and usually placed on a ledge such that they're above you. Which two do you think to use? Air Shooter and Crash Bomb? They're immune to BOTH.

You're quite right; there's not nearly as much showoffery here as there is later on. But that's entirely because I treated them as casual playthroughs with the ability to re-record any stages if I messed up. It wasn't until MM4 that I had loads of things I really wanted to show off, and thus started practicing with any intensity. That's a large part of why I'm planning to do The Wily Wars in its entirety: I'll get to redo MM1-3 with the standards I've been following since MM4. Also...yeah, those frogs seriously need to be vulnerable to at least ONE of those weapons.

The reason Time Stopper damages Quick Man is because he gets his speed from a mechanism built within him that distorts the flow of time around him, enabling him to move very quickly. Time Stopper would obviously disrupt this.

Heat Man is the real stage you sdon''t wnna go for, the blocks only really start when onscreen making them partially luck factored in my opinion but Quick Man's force beams can be memorized completely and can be cheesed (unlike the yoku blocks).

+Sovereign I actually played, rather than saw, Megaman 2 first. But it was rented. My birthday came around and I asked my mom to buy it for me. She actually got me the first Megaman game, on behalf of me not specifying what number, as I couldn't remember which it was (I got my NES when I was 2 years old and this was 2 years later). I played the hell out of that, and thankfully my mom was nice enough to keep buying me games in the series. I actually ended up chronologically getting every game besides 6, as at that point I was already moving on to the SNES and was drooling over Megaman X. Eventually I ended up actually owning every single game in the original series, and every X game besides 2, simply because I couldn't find it. I think my favorites in the original series are 3 and 5, but 2 is definitely a great game. Then I lost it all in a house fire. :(

There is another small difference between normal and difficult mode. In the bubbleman stage when you start out the first platforms with the frogs on normal are brown and in difficult they are white. Cool huh? Well to me.

Hey GeminiLaser I just beat Quick Man with only the plasma blaster no damage. It was not too bad it only took me 914 attempts. In reality quick man is a JJEERRKK and every failed attempt due to a cheap shot was as painful as the last. Fuck the quick boomerang what I really got was Dignity+9000. (I'm not trying to brag I just wanted to tell you what I did).

The dissappearing blocks are the real evil. Tbhe force beams can be fully memorized and can become easy, but the blocks only spawn if they're onscreen, really distorting timing and making the blocks just HECK ON EARTH (literally, hehehehe)

It's kind of sad to say but the lead in bubble lead is pronounced as lead, as in leading a group, instead of lead, as in the element. The element sounds much cooler, and I always proncounced it like that, but it is lead, as in leader. This is probably because of the forth wily stage.
