@@AllanZax Not sure that's true. Many musicians on youtube make their income doing and selling game covers. I pretty sure it's perfectly legal.

I've researched the matter extensively and in most cases no it is not legal at all. In order for you to distribute a remix or cover you have to have the rights to the original or a licensing deal with the original copyrights holder. As gaming music is legally perceived as an inseparable part of the gaming assets it cannot be licensed easily by distributors such as Distrokid, but instead you have to contact the game's developer/publisher directly and request a licensing deal (or additionally see if the developer happen to offer the rights to be licensed by third-party services to which you have to pay a per-month per-song fee). Also just because some (or many) people do it it doesn't mean it's legal. Many of them don't care and do it anyway hoping no one issues them a takedown notice (which in some cases do happen). As for me these remixes are something I do in-between my regular commercial releases and if I find a legal and cost effective way to upload them to streaming services and sell them then I'd be happy to do it. :)

I appreciate the effort, but the soft trace lead synth pads used take away from the harder edge of the original compositions. It’s excellent in terms of the composition and mix, just not in the right sub-genre for me. This OST should feel like an existential nightmare where you feel alert, on edge and ready to fight, not a fluffy dream.
