Mega Man 4 Full Playthrough No Commentary

Here we are continuing the Mega Man 8-bit lineage with Mega Man 4! This is the point in the 8-bit games where people start to equate all the games to each other but it seems recently a lot of reviewers are giving these later games a more favorable reevaluation. Mega Man 4 is a pretty late release for an NES game, released in 1991-the same year the NES: successor, the SNES would release in North America. Some might say that the fact Capcom were still making NES Mega Man games when they should have been moving on to the SNES but, personally, I think continuing the NES releases was a smart move. Around this time, many people were still new to the concept of upgrading your video game hardware after every few years and there was a lot of initial pushback by consumers feeling like they were being robbed of the money they had spent on the NES. For developers to continue making full games in major franchises for he console so late in its life makes sense knowing this context. Mega Man 4 sees a great presentation expansion over what was offered by its predecessors and even has a full cutscene in the intro dedicated to the origins of Mega Man almost giving the feeling that Mega Man 4 could be something of a soft reboot for the series.

This one is my favorite of the NES MegaMan games. I love the addition of the powered up Mega Buster. I felt like the game was more balanced than the previous 3 games.

Yeah, I feel like Mega Man 4 is overlooked in a lot of cases. I guess there are some out there who disagree with the existence f a charge shot- though I've only ever heard that mentioned by one reviewer before- but I think this is definitely one of the stronger games in the series.
