The real sad thing with Mighty No.9, is that it actually could have been way better than it ended up becoming. I mean seriously, there were concept animation and art that looked every bit as smooth as Cup Head, but way more colorful in the promotional art style of the series. People were not stupid to invest on it as its creators got a lot of experience in creating great games, if anything Comcept were dumb to not attempt making MN9 the best game it could have been, before spending the donation on a bunch of other stuff, like a cartoon adaption and a spinoff game series before the 1st game ever was released. This is all without mentioning the community drama that was going on, where the community mod of the Kickstarter basically went and had a bunch of needless arguments with the backers, selling idea that she was going to redesign Beck as a girl for the localization, and then pretty much went on a censorship spree with anyone that didnt align with her opinions.... Ruining a lot of the goodwill MN9s backers had, as nothing was done about that problem untill the community was already dead essentially. Also, many of the Kickstarter rewards never came as the whole thing was disorganized, further damaging the good will Comcept had builtup. The fact that the game ended up being a cheap piece with ps2 graphics, cheap deaths, B movie tier writing and a cheesey trailer that insults its audience as "anime fans crying at prom night" was just salt in a bloody wound. The game itself may not be the worst thing ever, it's just the things that surrounds its creation that is filled with absolute grudge inducing bullshit, so many people hate on it to this day.

Now, the day people stop talking about it, stop making fan games, stop playing the games that exist, then we can talk about "the Mega Man fan community" dying, which... well, I'm too far removed from it to know if it's starting to happen or not, but it certainly hasn't yet anyway.

Even recently went back to beat it on hard mode with all characters, all stamps, all S ranks. etc. xD Call is good in this game, unlike in Mighty No.9 I'd probably compare Gunvolt more to Megaman Zero with a little bit of X DNA; Gunvolt is the X, Copen is the Axl, and that new girl Kirin is Zero. Zonda is definitely Elpizo. >W>" But hey, yeah, it's a great score attack game. I adore how the games play and the level design and the general value of what the games offer, but the only real challenges are secret bosses or Endgame content when you set them on the hardest difficulty. Beyond that all 5 games are a cakewalk and that was never the case for any of the MM or MMZ games. That said, of everything out there the Azure Striker Gunvolt and Luminous Avenger iX games easily get my highest endorsement for anyone looking for that same energy Megaman/X/Zero games offered.

@sodathejunker Zero 1 and 2 aren't really hard, they're just kind of broken and poorly designed. Half tha games difficulty comes from not being able to see whatever is in front of you half the time and getting hit with bs attacks from bosses that have awful hit boxes, Gunvolt definitely isn't hard but Mighty Gunvolt Burst is much more difficult than megaman 1 - 4 I'd say.

There's no excuse for capcom to make a collection of Mega Man 7, 8, 9, and 10 and then exclude MM & Bass and the gameboy titles, and then sell said collection for more than the first legacy collection which had more content, actual save states, and rewind.

I believe Copy Kitty is worth mentioning. It's a platformer where you copy your opponents powers... AND COMBINE THEM! The end result is various moves and lot of flashy light and explosions. Then you have the boss fights where they give you unique powers to copy the bosses, then when you clear you get hard mode with remixed level, bosses movesets and even new bosses with some more new powers to copy. Oh and also there's a second characters that also copy powers but not in the same ways because obviously there weren't enough powers in the game. XD The developers are a bunch of mad lads. XD

What we need is a whole new series that is between classic and x. Don't know what we would call that, but it would ultimately lead us to the two doctors creating x and zero and leaving them in their capsules. Megaman would probably have more development done on the double gear system and maybe get the prototypes for some of the armors and buster. The one thing that megaman 11 showed me is that x's abilities didn't just come from the dying doctor giving his final creation "never seen before" tech. We could then ask the question, what does it mean to be human? What did megaman, protoman, bass, and roll lack? And we can try to answer what exactly triggered the creation of x and zero. My guess is that this would require at least 4 games to tell the story properly. They could literally use the same design they chose for megaman 11 and develop the story from there

Mega Man fans don't want to admit it, but Mighty No. 9 is a much better game that they think it is. The way the dash allows you to regain ammo (or else wait a cooldown) means that is a game that actually incentivizes to use the special weapons as much as you want rather than penalizing you, first game since Mega Man 1 to allow for "weapon-only" runs (and be viable at that). They complain it's a ripoff, but the problem is not that it's "too much like Mega Man" but _they hate whenever it tries to _*_deviate_*_ from it_ (they don't even bat an eye at Rosenkreuzstilette, odd to not see it in this video, which literally plagiarizes Mega Man's layouts and uses the same passwords as MM4!) And Gunvolt fans don't want to admit it either, but all of the things people dislike about Mighty No. 9 *are literally problems inherited from the Gunvolt games* (the flat level design where you have to constantly hammer the dash button to, the on-stage conversations, the start&stop tagging, being forced to fight enemy gauntlets instead of real mini-bosses, the emphasis on score, etc.) and some of it I would even argue that MN9 does actually fix: the on-stage conversations are nowhere as intrusive visually (and were in English from the get-go), having to dash into enemies to kill them means you are moving forwards rather than tagging as many enemies as possible and stay still to finish them off, having actual Mega Man weapons with a weakness cycle is just more fun than the lame tag gun or the Copen upgrades which only really "assist" you in combat instead of being your primary form of attack And for Burst, people will be quick to call it "better" than MN9 but are missing the forest for the trees: the level design is more creative yes and the visuals are more palatable, but stuff like the movement feels very inferior (they made dashing into an optional upgrade, which has limited uses and cost more "exp." for each, and it's mapped into the JUMP button which you have to double-tap to dash whyyyyy) and letting you make your own weapon is a cute gimmick but after so many playthroughs and so many characters _they all end up feeling the exact same_ compared to say both Beck and RAY in MN9 proper with their own curated set of unique weapons each with situational use, that's the core of Mega Man's appeal imo, rather than being so open-ended choices don't matter I'd much rather have a Mighty No. 9-2 than a Mighty Gunvolt 3, and I really hope nothing from Burst carries over into that game P.S.: It's also funny how people complain about MN9 having "bad level design" but praise a game like 20XX where all the levels are procedurally-generated slop lmao

SLIGHT correction on Gunvolt 1, the writing in the FIRST script is bad, almost comically so. the Striker Pack compilation redid the first game's script more accurately and brought back the voice acting that was dummied out. you can still choose to turn off the voices and switch the script to the original script if you want for a laugh. I also recommend giving 30XX a shot, the art style took a MASSIVE leap forward compared to the borderline Flash-game aesthetic the original 20XX had. also, 30XX actually has a hidden plot found by doing certain things in a run. that said, outside of some really neat stages (and unlocking a character you encounter on a frequent basis as playable), they're not necessary to enjoy the game.
