This game is a guilty pleasure of mine. With that being said, I can say that it is NOT a good game. I enjoy it myself, but to say its fantastic when compared to the other mega man titles is a straight lie.

While the soundtrack fuckin SLAPS (I mean, Shinji Hosoe and Yousuke Yasui, come on), the game itself was bad and was a baffling decision. Capcom really said "let's make a platformer spinoff of a real-time tactical RPG that was a spinoff of a platformer" and proceeded to make a really shitty, slow, stilted platformer that does neither OG Megaman or the Battle Network series justice.

@@Myuubey yeah in concept I think it’s a cool game and the music is killer, it’s also fundamentally sound gameplay-wise But holy, is it hard, I don’t think most people who haven’t played it understand how hard the start is, it makes Souls look forgiving (in particular, Souls games are difficult but tend to be usually fair about it imo) For the uninitiated: this game starts you out with just a weak, un-upgraded Buster, enemies chunk your health pretty good for making mistakes, and at this point in the game you have limited access to consumable battle chips to use for dealing actual good damage-likewise, healing is limited to heal battle chips, which are consumable and rare-meaning farming for chips is very much incentivized Basically you’re playing (to compare to a more traditional MM game): on hard mode, buster only-but it’s weaker than base buster in any other game besides X5 Zero’s-against enemies and a boss best fought with battle chips you have very few of, without much access to heal drops from enemies, and early game drops so few Zenny (money) that the shop won’t save you either without a long money grind It genuinely might be the most brutal MM game

+SuperPiposaru Battle Network was not Under the radar, It's the second highest selling series in the franchise, look into it if you want, I'm not kidding, and I enjoyed this game, It has an issue with lopsided difficulty and It has a steeper learning curve than most games in the franchise, but once you learn it, It's really non linear and rewards exploration and thinking outside the box, It's not perfect but it's fun and it's unique, something you really don't get too often these days.

Wow I looked this game up has incredibly low ratings generally for how good it is extreamly shocking id of never tried it if id seen its rating beforehand glad i didnt cause its amazing fuck those critics i completed this game completely long ago when it came out than again 2 years ago over 300 hours in easy i just don't see how anyone can hate it its just like og megaman with awesome hd graphics and instead of 8 weapons over 100!

Conan Arnold Yeah probably true everyones comparing to original mega like how in my opinion MMX is the best for good old side scrolling.. It's just like og mega but faster with upgrades but many still prefer og megaman over X I'll never understand why. I wish Mighty No 9 had sliding and dashing.

Marcus AK I did not know about these critic geeks until now. This is one of the best gamecube / platformer / megaman games to date. I liked it so much, I lent my copy to two close friends and they loved it to bits too, and they din't play many megaman games. Those critics of have been megaman haters. My only small problem with this game is the game is a bit childish. I don't mind as all the positive points outweighs it.

BN and SF games are usually rated by old megaman fans which tend to rate the new series much more harshly and give them lower scores for reasons that are bullshit, sure they weren't perfect games but if looked at as their own games they are really solid games except for 4, that was purgatory for me and many others but even that had a good battlesystem

Its okay to admit when a game is trash but has an amazing soundtrack. Look at Final Fantasy Mystic Quest or most Sonic games. This game is no exception.
