So my head canon is, the reason we don't see Axl in the Zero era, or have mention of him, is because he willingly becomes the copy body Zero's soul occupies, and his existence has been wiped from Zero's memory (possibly because of what it would do to his psyche if he was to remember).

Manufacturing a body should be so effortless at this point in 21XX so this doesn't make any sense at all but still does sound kinda cool

@@yohhh6715 To me, it has to do with Zero's complexity of his soul, coupled with the fact that the body being a shape-shifting New Generation reploid makes a lot of sense. While we're on the topic, I also think Copy X is a New Generation Reploid locked into a form that resembles X.

@@jkrunch2166 Copy X makes sense, Zero's new body was most likely new generation to be immune to the virus but I don't think he's THAT complex that he requires Axl to sacrifice, specially since Axl is still just a prototype, they're both older models so maybe they're compatible? Still, kinda weird and dark but original take i guess

information from some official sources have said the body was manufactured specifically by Dr Weil (note:at one point he and everyone else had the same goal of dealing with the maverick issue so no reason to booby trap the body if built during that time) though this could be one way for Axl's data to end up in Master Albert's hands to make Model A's A trans ability (maybe more)

I think that if Axl were still alive in the Neo Arcadia era, it would be easier to defeat Four Guardians with their DNA.

Wonder how many what if stories of Axl being in Megaman Zero there are, I once helped someone else write their own where Axl ended up appearing sometime post Zero 1 and thus was around in Zero 2 also joining Neo Arcadia. funnily enough Axl also gained a cyber elf companion but that one was an original one based on one of the nurse elf designs. I know that the person ended up finishing a Zero 3 adaption for the what if and started working on 4 though I unfortunately have not had the time nor will to help them as I did before

I always took it as that Model A and Grey/Ashe (while not being "the" Axl) is "an" Axl. My line of reasoning for this follows the Split Timeline Theory where the split starts at Megaman X6. Their are two endings to X6: one where Zero stays with X leading the continuation of the X series, and the other where Zero disappears leading to the Zero series. Zero basically causes a butterfly effect, making events play out radically different from one another. This explains why technology is so much far advanced in the Zero series. Zero somehow by disappearing made a good period time where there was peace, allowing technology to have room to grow without constant wars staggering it. We can even see at the start of X7 that Zero is on the battlefield in the verge of another war. Since the events of X7 never happened in the Zero series, Axl (the character) wouldn't exist. However, his equivalents would be conceived: That being Model A and Grey/Ashe.

unfortunately officially X7 and beyond exist in the history of the Zero series as if I recall somewhere it was said (not in game) that Zero's sealed ending was the epilogue of the X series and not just X6

@@Xeno-The-Wanderer That is also just theory as well. Some official sources say that MMZ takes place 700 years after instead of 100, and others will say that there is a time split that eventually circles back to Legends. Capcom has been very inconsistent when it comes to this topic, which is why I lean onto the Split Timeline Theory because it spares a headache and makes the most sense in explanation. Edit: it's actually several hundred years, not 700. My bad but my point still stands.

@@jestademon3524 never heard the 700 years thing, you sure it was from an official source? Capcom has final say regarding canon, nothing really says X7 and beyond don't happen, there isn't even any stretches that need to happen

You know, I think it is an interesting idea how Axl starts here on Neo Arcadia. ...However, it kinda feels like he believes Copy X's tricks a bit too easily...? I know Axl is supposed to be the least experienced and hot-headed of the Maverick Hunters. But at the same time, I do not think it feels right how Lumine is the one to talk about how "X" is acting somewhat odd.

Also Axl knows copy X is probably doing a lot of government work as the leader of Neo Arcadia, not to mention this isn’t the first time he’s seen X in the side lines. Plus the one telling him not to trust X is Lumine. The one who he knows has manipulated many people in the past for their goals. If it was coming from someone like Zero, that would’ve made him think about it. But since it’s coming from someone who he doesn’t trust and most likely hates, he’s not likely to bother listening to what Lumine says right now.

So when does this assult take place? As it seems like it is mixing quite a bit. The raid on the base and Zero's awakening. I get Axl maybe shifting the timeline a bit, but some clarification as to when this takes place would be nice. I feel like Zero might remember Axl, but it seems like an altercation is likely to take place.

The raid takes place roughly the same time it does during the original game. Zero had awakened before Axl was revived. And yes, Anubis was already destroyed by that time, but I was going with him already being revived to guard Neo Arcadia, like he is during the boss rush.

0:52 Axl Didn’t Die, he was just greatly damaged. he’s literally Model A in ZX Advent and he’s in the Zero comics. I would mention him in Command Mission but I doubt that’s canon
