Sure, the level design feels scummy in some areas, but not like it's the majority of the game, unlike X6 and X8. Not saying X7 is good or better than X8, because it isn't, but even when what many consider the worst game in the series feels more challenging for me than what many consider the best in the series (I still say it's X4), then the question is, why come back to X8 if it really isn't a return to form for the series?

The only things I can give it are the story and gameplay are better than X7, and it definitely feels like an X game unlike Command Mission. As for Inafune, it's better off this way. He never had any say in how the story would play out, only did he have a say in MegaMan Zero, because it was being developed by Inti Creates, not Capcom. A lot of people would call me a contrarion for saying that, but considering Mighty No. 9 and Inafune getting involved in NFTs, am I wrong?

Really highlights just how rushed the game was. Well you see the reason for the different names was the first English names for the Mega Man X5 Maverick bosses were based on members from Guns N' Roses because voice actress of Claire Redfield as a tribute for then-husband Erin Suzukk whose a fan of said band while second English names for them were to go along the Maverick naming convention seen in the first four X games and are more similar to their original Japanese names

The maverick names in X6 are mostly their Japanese names. A lot of the maverick names in Japan are puns or bastardized English words. Here are a few examples: - Chill Penguin is Icy Penguigo (Icy Penguin) - Blast Hornet is Explose Horneck (Explosion/Explosive Hornet) - Bubble Crab is Bubbly Crablos (Bubbly Crab) - Burn Dinorex (Burn and a portmanteau of "dinosaur" and "tyrannosaurus rex") - Blaze Heatnix (Blaze and a portmanteau of "heat" and "phoenix") - Rainy Turtloid (Rainy and a portmanteau of "turtle" and "android" or "reploid")

A lot of people speculate that Metal Shark Player may be a mistranslation, and it's likely meant to be Metal Shark P(r)ayer, referring to his ability to resurrect Mavericks. Infinity Mijinion, yeah, "Mijinion" doesn't make any sense unless you know Japanese. "Mijinion" is derived from "mijinko," which means daphnia (a water flea). Shield Sheldon... I have no idea. I think it's just another case of wordplay (shell and the name Sheldon). When translating from Japanese, it could be alternatively romanized as "sherudan," which looks and sounds cooler than just plain old Sheldon.

@@lpfan4491 It does when you compare how different it was to the previous games plus with X8 and other MM series that tackled an element X7 had i.e. 3D gameplay, voice acting, story, etc. One of the few good things it did was having you switch between hunters in game.

It doesn't even have a story that sets itself apart from other ones in a positive way, that was X6(though I guess nobody in the west would know with how badly that was translated).

@@lpfan4491 It really does. You may think it's the same shit but it's not. It tries to be a 3D game with some 2D gameplay into while paying homage to its past but poorly. The weapons suck, X's armor sucks, the story in X7 focuses on a new character than X or Zero, the former of which QUITS being a Maverick Hunter so there IS story to set itself apart from the others. So yeah, my points still hold. X7 tried to be new but failed which is why X8 went back to more familiar ground while having a 3D look but let's not make it a thing because we're both on the same boat about X7 being a failure.

X1/X2/X5 are my favorite but I like the theme used in X7, could do without the announcer though. X6 has a banger guitar riff but that start screen is pitiful lol. It looks like a half assed powerpoint slide.

It's a pun on panda and pandemonium. In X6 onwards, they started to lean towards the Japanese naming scheme for the Mavericks, which is more based on puns and corrupted English words.
