Mega Man X SNES vs Mega Man Maverick Hunter X PSP: 25th Anniversary version difference comparison

December 17th 2018 marked the 25th Anniversary of Mega Man X aka Rockman X in Japan.
To celebrate this milestone I have created a CHANGES from SNES to PSP video covering the majority of notable tweaks.
This video does NOT cover the title screen, glitches (magic carpet, ice platform inside the wall) and credits.
There was 1 glitch that I kept in the video because it was easy to pull off and easier to show the actual change.
Credits in the PSP version used an anime style FMV which I am aware some animation studios are picky when it comes to copyright, so I decided to focus on the core gameplay of this video.

0:24:41 - PSP exclusive content (Vile Mode, difficulty)
0:38:36 - Level design (Opening + 8 Mavericks are faithful, Sigma Palace 1, 2 and 3 are not)
1:08:21 - Boss battles (Major end of level boss fights, some do not have obvious changes)
1:25:11 - Bonus footage and a PSA about the termination of KZbin original annotations.

This video was meant to be up yesterday but KZbin did the most KZbin thing possible by freezing the processing part at 95% for over 18 hours. I reuploaded this video and it took under 20 minutes to get it fully processed. Anyway, I hope you enjoy watching this detailed comparison video.

There's a little thing that bothered me on the PSP while farming energy pellets, when they fall off the screen even if there's a nearby platform they dissapear, in the SNES they can be recovered regardless of height as far as I remember.

I think Maverick Hunter X is a gold standard for a remake like 2002's Resident Evil, in a way that it adds so much to the original and subverts what players of the original are used to, without tampering with the core of the game. Seems as if most people I see complaining about it in these comments only want to whine that it has no sprite graphics, as if they want to hate MHX but can't find any better reason.

Wish Capcom port Maverick onto the Nintendo Switch version. Maverick version didn't aged that well being on the PSP. SNES version still look good being 2d.

In 42:00,You only need is full armored,all hearts & sub tank,You can get the Hadouken straight if Armored Armadillo is the last one to fight. Launch Octopus in PSP,Better used Charged Shot than Rolling Shield(than waiting to shoot him again).

Seems like the limited sprite capabilities of the PSP forced them to use bad-looking vector models. Such a shame that video game graphics tech have regressed since 1994.

a little fault, to get to the head upgrade in storm eagles stage SNES you need the dash from chill penguin stage.

Maverick Hunter X: better graphics, sound and storytelling MMX: more intense cutscenes and deeper epilogue I prefer MHX but I have to say MMX hits way deeper than its remake...

About the remake... Graphically talking, it's not the greatest thing, but for the console it was pretty good. However, I should say that I love the animations of the game, I mean, they were so well worked so even if the enemies can't see you they'll move a part of their bodies, o look around, I really like those details, and the movement was smooth enough to give you some visual pleasure... That's my opinion (? I loved that game and still waiting MMHX2

I like the look of the psp version but the snes puxel art looks better Tge psp voices can get pretty annoying sometimes but the psp music is more of my taste but people prefer the snes music which i respect and understand Both are stupid hard games imo i died like 3 times in the intro stage XD

Mega Man X is not that hard, in fact it's an easy game compared to other 16 bit ones. The only annoying parts are the Spider boss and Sigma Final Form.

Look better? They couldn't even animate X's face on the 3D model (as nice as it is), the sprite is incredibly more expressive, you could tell when he's hurt, tired or victorious.
