I just remembered something. Gunvolt bosses play by the same rules as X8 bosses: Whatever attacks they do from full health until critical health, do one super-powerful attack when their health reach critical point, then resume normal routine until they die. Some bosses in other platform Megaman games have a similar behavior (the Four Guatdians, in particular, though I think they do their desperation attacks repeatedly instead of just once per battle... maybe), but X8 is the one game where this behavior is consistent like in Gunvolt.

If you're talking about the Four Guardians as in Harpuia, Fefnir, Leviathan, and Phantom from the first Mega Man Zero game then yeah they do do their super attack more than once per battle

1. Crab-K = A Maverick Mechaniloid found on Galapagos Island. X, Zero, and Axl each fight it until they finally confront it in Orbital Elevator. It use it's gaint Claw to smash the Ground and ise canmon on it's shell. 2. Golem = A Rogue Mechaniloids find in Mineral Mine area of Metal Valley. It would pursue the Hunters until they confront it right near the Valley Center. 3. Earthrock Trilobyte = Once a New Generation Reploid of Jakob Project maintaning the Minerals that has been Mine. After becaming Maverick, Trilobyte use the Minerals they digs as a Source for the Maverick paradise by start an Uprising. He has thick Shell that need to be torn off using Charged attacks. He attacks using Crystal Wall toward his opponent. 4. Gigabolt Man-O-War = A childish Reploid who distributing Power around Megalopolis. After becaming maverick (or not realizing), he sucks all of the Megalopolis Power Supply in Dynasty for the Mavericks. The Hunter chase him with the Sirius Chaser before cornering him on Platform. He would Employ a Little Jellyfish to attacks and creating a barrage of Thunderstrike towards the Ground, also able to stretch his arms. 5. Ravemanta = A giant Jet Maverick that drop off many mavericks to hold you off. It would shoot and throw bombs. 6. Avalanche Yeti = Once a Reploid that maintance the Weather of the World. After becaming maverick, he tempering with Weather Control Machine on Central White causing the Ecological Balance at risk. Yeti able to dig inside the Snow and leap through air. He can also shoot lots of Icicle before causing a Snowflake to drop around the Screen. 7. Burn Rooster = working at Inferno Waste disposal center he has to watch all of the Reploids scrapped for labelled Maverick. Now the Maverick himself, he cause the Riot over the Inferno. He can Float in the air, kick at opponent, causing the Fire eruption, and able to cause the Fire Walls around the Screen. 8. Bamboo Pandamonium = A Reploid that used to work at the abandoned Rocket Facility at Booster Forest. Afte rbecaming Mavericks, he sends the data of the Rockets for Sigma, believing that the world wish to be destroyed. He attacks using his Claws, firing a Bambbo Missiles, and fire bombs at his enemies. 9. Optic Sunflower = A Reploid that works on Troia Base Hunter Training Facility. Now a Maverick, he cause the Base system 'Helios' to go Haywire. He able to teleports, firing a Beam from his face, manipulate the Room Space, and deploy the satelite lasers. 10. Dark Mantis = A Reploid Ninja work at Pitch Black Weapon Manufacturing. Now a Mavericks, he reinitiate the facility to make weapons for Sigma. He was able to jum at high Speed, slash using his sickle and throw boomerangs of Dark Energy. 11. Gravity Antonion = A Professor of Anti-Gravity Lab, he became a maverick and build the Anti-Gravity tower above the Primrose Lab. He able to manipulate the Gravity of his surrounding,cause a Black Hole to attacks, and Drop Gravity Cubes. 12. Vile-V = A Former Hunter turn Mavericks, Vile has been Enhance dwith Jetpacks, using his rocket launcher to attacks, and throw bombs. On the Second Fight, he use the Goliath Ride Armor that he can Control remotely. 13. Copy Sigma = A Clone Version of Sigma which was actually a Guardroid take his form. He use the Lasers, super strength, Super Speed to grab hsi opponent. 14. Sigma = The True Sigma who has been ressurected on the Moon Palace. He was able to teleport and use his swords to attack hsi opponents. 15. Lumine = The True Antagonist of Mega Man X8. Lumine use moves from otjer mavericks using Orbs that contain their data. On his Sceodn form he would fly around the Corner using lasers and dash attacks.

Just to confirm that you chose the incorrect boss Earthrock Trilobite isn't the first he is the second. So good luck trying to beat him without the correct weapon. Another incorrect boss Gigabolt Man-O-WAR isn't the second he is the third. On Gigabolt is better if you use X on him with Crystal Wall because the weapon. Can redirect his lightning bolts to it so you don't need to dodge it. Plus you can make him ran right into it and another thing deals more damage instead of Axl's crystal balls. So after that all other bosses are in the incorrect order so the first. Should be Gravity Antonion as his weapon, is the weakness to Trilobite.
