Welcome to my Mega March Art Haul! I've been collecting up all of the smaller orders I placed with Jackson's from mid-February through to the end of March (mostly using my affiliate credit) and put them together with two small orders from Cult Pens, making one huge art haul!

Ouh yay happy to listen to you unbox new art supplies! Thank you for the mention for pastel olive paint, the earl grey ink and for the glass dip pen! Also what a coincidence when I was in Italy I bought J.Herbin inks and I love that Rouille D,Ancre! I almost bought Verd de gris, but went for Vert empire instead. I think you might like that colour too, to be honest. :)) BTW that glass dip pen you have got is gorgeos! wow! editedit. INKY GOODNESS! :D

I am so excited to really get into using inks and to start using my dip pen and also fountain pen that I bought a while ago but haven't used yet. I hope you had a fab time in Italy! x

So much 'inky goodnes' a real treat to have another massive art haul video from you. And so great to see you getting more into using inks, they are a staple in my cache too now. I love glass dip pens,they are so lovely to work wit. I got into them after Lucy Locks who I follow on youtube uses one to stunning effect to draw pet portraits (Her videos using the glass dip pink will really inspire you!) The Ecoline pens are perfect for pieces that you want to scan and are great for sketchbook work, they are really vibrant and layer really well. The Diamine inks are not lighfast or not supposed to be but I have found they don't fade over time and they make a range that have metallic flakes in them that I love. It's always lovely to haer why you choose colours and how you will use them. The Bleedproof white is reallt good and is now a staple for me now,I did start using the FW white acrylic in k after your reccommendation,but I have to dat the bleed prof white is actully better. Liquitex inks are a staple for me to especially their metallics. Can't wait for the follow up mega art swatching video and the the speial project video!. Am sure the the swatching video will also have much 'inky goodness' in it too. (matt)

Grand video! So glad you're going to try the Japanesque Turner acryl-gouache-I recently finished a 50 landscape painting project using them. Quick tip: the whites in the Japanesque sets are not as opaque and bright as the whites in standard gouache. They also tend not to mix as cleanly. I ended up getting a tube of Holbein Super Opaque acryl-gouache for the brightest whites and mixes I needed :)
@NatashaNewtonArt2 жыл бұрын
I bought a set last year and love them, so I'm adding to those! Thank you for the tip about the white. :)
@lindyashford77442 жыл бұрын
The Japonesque white is not so opaque because it is a mixing colour. If you want a more opaque white with the same texture use the ordinary turner acrylic white and layer over with the japonesque or mix them together. I love these paints you can thin them to the finest veils of colour and they go on beautifully or you can use them full body, they are just fantastically good!

What Inky Goodness! That glass dip pen really is a thing of beauty 😍 I’m hopeful for a love letter written with it! 😁 I wonder which of your favourite colours you would choose to write it in; would it be one of the many blueish-greens, pinky-oranges, or your old favourite/new paynes grey? The Dr. PH Martin's Bleed Proof White and the Daniel Smith Undersea Green are amazing! I am sure you will love them, can't wait to see you use these. The way Undersea Green separates and settles in a wet wash is wonderful for making those cooler blurry out of focus trees in a background, the yellow seems to fade into the background leaving a beautiful blue green. I pretty much have two pens permanently inked up with them, the ancient copper just seems so right for my Kabwe of brass sport too. Will definitely check out those other two, petrichor i’d be willing to try for the name alone. If you haven’t yet come across Adventure Denali’s channel she’s got lots of videos swatching out writing inks that I find really useful. I myself have been gifted a rather nice art haul by my partner (I have a long list of health issues and because of how complex that list gets, I can’t find work and my partner knows that makes me depressed so he has made it a habit to buy me a new art thing whenever we have our little date nights) I want to start making KZbin videos both to share my works, but also to show my appreciation to my partner for spoiling me because I’m sick. In my mind that’s a great way to show how much I appreciate the gifts is to show them and use them (I’m nearly always making art because 70-80% of the time I’m stuck in my bed not able to do much physically)

If you like to drop ink in water and see the chromatography effects, there are SO many beautiful inks I could recommend. Two off the top of my head: Robert Oster Grey Seas and Robert Oster Avocado. Those seem right up your alley! Painting with ink is an entirely different beast altogether; very different from watercolor and completely addictive once you see all those hidden chroma washing out. Also, have you tried Winsor Newton Cobalt Green Deep watercolor? It's the absolutely most beautiful dusty, grey-green and it has fabulous granulation. It mixes beautifully and also makes a great substitute for that Cobalt Turquoise Green in your special project, if you want something a little cooler. ;) Thanks for sharing the fun! I have a huge weakness for fountain pens and inks, so I'm already a big fan of Inky Goodness! Herbin Vert de Gris is one of my favourite inks for daily writing - one of my fountain pens is pretty much always inked up with it. I also love Poussière de Lune, Lié de Thé, and Rouge Grenat. Diamine have so many gorgeous colours, and are the brand I have the most of by far - great quality, very well behaved inks across the board, and at an amazing price. Some of my favourites include Aurora Borealis, Ancient Copper, and Salamander. One little caveat for anyone wanting to try out fountain pens with bottled ink: be very careful that whatever ink you choose, it is definitely fountain pen ink, and not drawing or calligraphy ink. Even the Rohrer and Klingner sketchinks, which are technically suitable for fountain pen use, can mess up your pen if you leave the ink sitting in the pen for too long or don't flush it through thoroughly with water afterwards. There's also a lot of art and calligraphy inks that are only meant for dip pens and brushes, and they will quickly destroy the feed of a fountain pen. A quick Google search to see what other fountain pen connaiseurs have to say about an ink can save a lot of time and expense.

I was going to suggest to you I think you would love Tundra Violet (yummy for skies). Glacier Green is fabulous too.....and I got Desert Green the other day. Another beauty. I am looking forward to seeing the ink swatching too. I get confused by all the different inks and what is best for what, so haven't tried any yet :)

I felt overwhelmed by the different inks available in the beginning too, but I'm slowly getting more knowledgeable!
