James.. you switched the Garmin for Hummingbirds? Was it only for the link to the bow trolling motor? Have you ever tried Lowrance? They can link up to the Motorguides Xi5. And from what I heard on the bbc forum, this year lowrance themselves is coming out with their very own brand of bow trolling motor.

To be honest there's not a lot of middle ground on Lake Erie when it comes to fishing conditions. It's either light and variable or too windy to fish. Even guys with the great big boats are paying very close attention to wind conditions and picking their days to fish. I know we would have no reservations about fishing Lake Erie in a deep v 18' boat when the conditions were right.
@carterlarson98145 жыл бұрын
InDepthOutdoorsTV hmm maybe I will plant a trip, just got a wx1850 and have been itching to get it out-to much ice!!
@InDepthOutdoorsTV5 жыл бұрын
We've fished in the 1850 quite a bit and it's a very capable hull. Just remember to be sensible when you pick your days and keep an eye on the winds and you'll be just fine. The fishing should be awesome on the Western Basin of Erie for a number of weeks yet.
@strikeforcek91495 жыл бұрын
@@carterlarson9814 you'll be fine in an 18'er. There's guys going out in 16' semi-v Jon boats going out a few miles. Just pick your days at 1'ers and under. If you go in from the Ohio side (where I'm at in Vermillion) look for a south winds and you'll be golden when the lake flattens out.

Just got my 21' Wellcraft uncovered and ready to start slaying em this year. 2019 is supposed to be one of the best walleye years to date, according to the ODNR after doing their prelim counts and etc... Anyone interested in going out or looking for a good spot on Lake Erie for absolute hogs, hit me up. From Cleveland to Port Clinton is where ya wanna be.
