on this topic @ 33:12 Discord runs on an old version of electron (which is just like running a 2 year old version of chrome) that's why it fucks everything up. there is ways to run it in a newer version of electron (johnny hmu)

You can't change the version of electron, it's baked into the client. Unless you mean using canary or PTB, which _could_ occasionally be a version or two ahead. That being said, it major version is ~1 year behind, due to inherent dependency issues and bugs in newer versions (although we are on the latest minor version for security fixes, etc.).
