Okay so hear me out. The guys have always been good at predicting things. Shawn says if he had Jeff Bezos money he would solve climate change. In the what video games are like in the future video Derricks character from the future says that climate change is a solved issue. What if Shawn throwing the opening pitch at a Padres game or him carrying the Olympic torch is the catalyst that leads the way to Shawn becoming uber rich?

Obligatory: billionaire philanthropy is a charm offensive to trick people into thinking any person can ethically control that much money. To that point, it's not possible for one person to make anything near a billion dollars of value. Everyone who has anything like that sum of wealth has it because they are stealing the value of the labor they employ.
@StrawberryDonutKing3 жыл бұрын
Seriously underestimating the amount of work required to be at that position. That isn't to say Amazon isn't a dog shit company that ruins shit. But come on, work is work.
@foxe24653 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. But part of me wants to point out how so many lesser known billionaires just buy shit loads of houses and start up companies for people, which does in turn get them a stable stream of wealth without looking like a villain. Sort of relevant, an elderly *millionaire* couple bought my mother a dog grooming business start up, and they profit off her, but she loves her job and profits too.

@foxe24653 жыл бұрын
If it was more pop culture relevant they could have done a *Rogue* version of their Dark Souls News Network video skit. Don’t quote me but I think the term Rogue-like slips past most of us because it’s a lesser known game and therefor a joke not worth the effort for a video.

**SPOILER ALERT FOR A YEAR OLD PODCAST** (I kno I'm probably writing this to no one) didn't really enjoy the film for many reason. need to rewatch it to give it a fair shake, but I was too disappointed after the initial showing to go back yet. like Derrick, I watched The Sopranos prolly about five times now, and almost make it a habit to watch it at least once every three/four years. I definitely agree that Tony's father was miscast, and I think its a huge deal. Tony's dad is meant to be a pathetic, scared man; one that exploits his community by being the one that 'takes the mantle'. one that would leave the mafia business at first opportunity. this is one of the primary conflicts that Tony constantly has with wanting to go straight the entire series. Tony's father wanted to go straight, Tony simply adopts it as a coping mechanism, adding another layer of tragedy to Tony's pathological nature. replacing him with the fucking Punisher is definitely a miscast -- it makes his dad look like a psychopath; Tony is much closer to that descriptor than his dad, that's kinda the point! Wrapping up that Junior is responsible for the death of Chris' father definitely undermines the beautiful episode where Christopher murders the cop who he thinks murdered his father. the purpose of that episode is intentionally ambiguous to show that Christopher is truly lost, a lone rebel without a just cause to tie himself to; he can never have a proper resolution, and is why he will always fall back to heavy drugs, with only temporary stints of finding purpose; it isn't that these ventures don't work out for him, its that Chris has insecure attachment issues that leads him to never dedicate himself to any given thing (similar to Anthony Jr. which is important since bother Chris and Anthony are supposed to be Tony's 'sons'). To Rocco's point, Tony's oedipal complex was coupled with his desire for women as mistresses, not long-term relationships; so his mother would look similar to someone like that broad who slapped him with the steak. Blonde women are supposed to represent Tony's unconcious desire to actually 'fix' his life. this is why when it looks like his marriage with Carmella is ending, he gets dangerously close to Adriana. I believe Melfi overtly explains this in a certain episode. the black doods being in the film are a clear parallel to the narrative that Irish and Italians came up as criminals, and blacks face a double standard to this romantacization of the gangster mythos amongst whites. if there's anything that is 'woke' (altho using that term is kinda cringe (as is unironically using the term cringe)) about this film, it would be that Chase's typical white self-loathing coupled with his eastern-spiritualist infused nihilism makes the ending of the film disgusting. there was no romantacization of the 'gangster' in The Sopranos. The ending scene is meant to depict Tony as a despicable individual, similar to Bernie Madoff in Wolf on Wall Street. The fact that Tony can carry on after all that has been done in his wake is horrifying, and the fact that he has poisoned his children with the woe is me illnesses that he bemoaned to Melfi are on full display. And like I already mentioned above, Tony's father is depicted as a pathetic coward that exploits his own people (even his own son). the black dood... is a hero; there really is no other way of looking at it -- despite the fact that these same black doods in Sopranos essentially sell out the african-american community, and perpetuate homeless doods shooting up in an abandoned home, only to be shot by some black kids with a toddler present. I don't like terms like 'woke' or 'sjw', but the negligence on display here only comes from the fact that this character is black, and is immune to the criticism that Chase grants to Tony (since Chase IS Tony, and hates himself, and his father... depicted as his fater). final note: I disagree with Derrick on the fact that this story told as a film undermines the fact that the decade long drama could have done it more effectively. Not Fade Away is another film made by Chase, and is VERY similar to Sopranos. It is a very beautiful film that depicts characters in more depth than most of the characters in Sopranos itself (other than Tony ofc). anyway... thx for reading this whoever got this far? kinda in a weird place considering how disposable this particular platform is (that being, a video released a year ago, that consists of a weekly podcast format, that has other streaming platforms for the same content, lol).
