Back in the 90's, when I was a teenager, I used to translate loads of lyrics to my native language using dictionary and writing them down on a piece of paper. One day, I've translated "A Tout Le Monde" , left the the paper with it on a table in the living room and went out with friends. My dad came back home and read the lyrics and thought I'm going to hurt myself, so he got into a cab and spend two hours driving around town and looking for me (90s, pre mobile phone era) to eventually find me all well with friends in the pub. I'll never forget his face when he found me. He was scared but happy in the same time. It was so many years ago, hes now dead, but each time I listen "A Tout Le Monde" it reminds me my dad and that moment.

My son died days ago and I thought I wouldn't be able to listen to Megadeth ever again as that was our thing but listened to this song last night while trying to pick songs for his funeral and it's giving me such comfort, not only was it his favourite Megadeth song but it could have been written especially for us. Gonna go on his final journey wearing his A Tout Le Monde hoodie. Rest in peace Tom, thank you for being the best son and for just being you. And thank you Dave for writing such a beautiful and poignant song and indeed for enriching mine and Tom's lives with all your music throughout our lives..

@@criztu there are only 12 notes. Every riff/chord progression that sounds good has already been done. All bands are using the same building blocks for their songs and just arranged them differently to make unique songs. There are countless examples of groups using exactly the same parts but arranging them into the song differently so when certain parts of songs are compared, they sound the same, but when you compare the entire song, they are very different.

These lyrics are among the best I have ever heard. My finacé is terminal with brain cancer and I've been struggling terribly and this song has helped me so much through this struggle and so much of what he says is true. The opening lyrics just make me think of the harder we try to control our circumstances the more out of control things tend to feel for us and the good things in life simply pass us by. Value and cherish those you love because you never know what hell lurks just around the corner...although her body may not be with me forever she will always be in spirit, mind, heart and soul.

Hey ! Friendly frenchie here ! There's a little "mistake" to the translation of the line "A tout le monde". The word "monde" does mean "world", but when you use it after the words "tout le" in a sentence, it means "everyone/everybody". French can be that weird sometimes... So, the "exact" translation actually is "To everyone/everybody", even though translation can, sometimes, be ultra personnal and free to interprete as you wish. In this case, and since Dave is addressing to his family and friends, I really do think it does mean "To everyone/everybody". I don't know if my explanations are clear, but here I go I guess haha. Although I thank you for dropping the lyrics here mate ! :D It is such a beautiful song !

I'm 32 and I don't know how I've gone my entire life without having heard this song, but by the end of it I'm feeling such intense heartache. A friend of mine was so obsessed with playing guitar he had a battery-powered mini amp strapped to his back almost 24/7 so he could walk and play wherever he felt like it. He was a huge metalhead and I knew the first time I heard him play that he would be famous for it someday, but he passed away earlier this year so now the world will never see his talent and I feel so absolutely privileged to have witnessed it in my lifetime. This song just brought back a lot of really nice memories. Thank you.

It's just that singing these beautiful vocals while playing complex guitar riffs makes me a bit more Team Megadeth. LYRICS: Don't remember where I was I realized life was a game More seriously I took things The harder the rules became I had no idea what it'd cost My life passed before my eyes I found out how little I accomplished All my plans denied So as you read this know my friends I'd love to stay with you all Please smile when you think of me My body's gone, that's all A tout le monde (To all the world) A tous mes amis (To all my friends) Je vous aime (I love you) Je dois partir (I have to leave) These are the last words I'll ever speak And they'll set me free If my heart was still alive I know it would surely break And my memories left with you There's nothing more to say Moving on is a simple thing What it leaves behind is hard You know the sleeping feel no more pain And the living are scarred A tout le monde (To all the world) A tous mes amis (To all my friends) Je vous aime (I love you) Je dois partir (I have to leave) These are the last words I'll ever speak And they'll set me free So as you read this, you know my friends I'd love to stay with you all Please smile, smile when you think about me My body's gone, that's all A tout le monde (To all the world) A tous mes amis (To all my friends) Je vous aime (I love you) Je dois partir (I have to leave) These are the last words I'll ever speak And they'll set me free A tout le monde (To all the world) A tous mes amis (To all my friends) Je vous aime (I love you) Je dois partir (I have to leave) These are the last words I'll ever speak And they'll set me free

As long as their memories makes ripples in the water of your life, they will never be forgotten. Dad in 2012, Mom in 2015, about a week apart time-wise. At her service, I went off a bit about how her 'memorial' paper at her church failed to encompass the mother I knew, even in her Winter years, and my metal-head brother read part of these lyrics when he came up next. I do hope they found each other in the Gulf of Mexico (ashes mingled), as she wasn't going to let him get away that easily (her words). I still dream of them.

I swear the look in her eyes said "thank you, but I have to go now. Goodbye." Right before she conked out. I found this song shortly after...and I love Megadeth it took forever for me TO FINALLY check out their discography but im glad I did. A tout le monde is a very powerful, soothing song. Matthew Mitchell Great song, but the lyrics are not really appropriate for a funeral of someone unless they were in the armed services. Fade To Black is my favourite, but again, not appropriate. Cause of death was entered as unknown. Not suspicious, nothing in the toxicology, not suicide. He had been taken to the doctors in the 12-18 months prior for palpitations but no cause was ever found. A 26 year old suddenly dying, without any real answer as to why. Perhaps you understand the song choices.

Of course for music related stuffs there's tons of different videos for them (music videos, lyric videos, instrumentals, remasters, live etc., even guitar covers) that kinda divides the views. But when such a masterpiece like Holy wars doesn't even have 100M views on the official Megadeth channel yet means they're underrated still.

This song "À Tout le Monde" (French for 'to all the world' or 'to everyone')" is about what death leaves in its wake. Frontman Dave Mustaine has said "There were a lot of times when I was lost. In February ‘93 there was no solution to a temporary problem because I just lost focus. I ate a handful of valiums, and I overdosed… Why I would want to voluntarily kill myself through the use of stuff that’s not supposed to do any good for me just makes me rethink my whole way of life right now". Dave has also said if he had only a little time to live, one soundbite; he wanted everyone to know that good, bad, or indifferent; he loved them all. The song's chorus-"à tout le monde, à tous mes amis, je vous aime, je dois partir"-translates from French as follows: "To everyone, to all my friends, I love you, I must leave."

I remembered the first time I came across Megadeth. I was at my friends house and I noticed this CD on their kitchen table, the album depicted with an old lady hanging up babies on a line. Like when you hanging out clothes for them to dry. I asked my friend if I could borrow the CD. He said: '' Sure! But the only best song is number 4...'' And number 4 was ''A Tout Le Monde''. And that was the day I became a Megadeth fan. Man, I should visit my friend and thank him for introducing me to Megadeth.

My husband just went to the Megadeth concert in Hamilton Ontario this spring. He said out of all the concerts he has been to this one was the best and he's been to a lot. He went with my 27 year old son and this was his first time seeing a concert and he loved it. This song is so real now and a lot heavier if even slightly different as a little over a week ago, my husband was called by his ex wife to tell him that his 31 year old son was found in a tent passed away due to an overdose. My husband hasn't heard from or seen his own son in years even though he tried desperately and it tore him apart. He has been thinking about going to see them again in Windsor On but due to funeral costs now he will be unable to. Love everyone.
