This demo probably shows the impact of the producer Max Norman on the final version. Some people may say Max Norman was the main reason why this song and the whole album were kind of overproduced. The step from megathrash to simplier American 90's heavy metal with the Megadeth approach. Sorry to say but this album reminds me the step from Justice - > Black album. Anyway the Countdown is a masterpiece and for me among Megadeth top 3.
@vicrattlehead63863 жыл бұрын
Yes, except for Ashes in your mouth. Max Norman was also the reason why Youthanasia was mid tempo from start to finish. Its probably his idea trying to replicate Black album. I guess its why songs with faster tempo like Crown of worms and Bullprick were omitted.
@Metalton953 жыл бұрын
@@vicrattlehead6386 exactly. I ONLY come back to Ashes (masterpiece) & this demo, from Countdown to Extinction. Endgame is my favourite post-1990 Megadeth album, by far! Never understood the hype for Countdown & Youthanasia, just because they have Menza & Friedman..? 🤷♂️

very cool to hear after growing up with the song a different way. this sounds more like Rust In Peace mode, whereas the way it is on the album is clearly a signal to the coming Youthanasia sound. (i love both)

Way better than the album version. This version is what Dave wanted at the time - accessibility and heaviness at the same time. The fucking progressive chorus kills. I can't believe the producer listened to it and was like "let's make is a mushy wall of chords with no dynamics, that's what the kids want to hear from megadeth!"

This is totally Rust in Peace style guitar sound and technique. I love R.I.P, but it's amazing how more mature and powerful that the Countdown to Extinction album is! I like this, but I'm glad they incorporated their new system for CTE. Especially sonically, CTE is innovative with the bass guitar click, a brutal guitar sound, and Mustaine's vocals were FAR improved in CTE than any previous album to date. CTE, IMO, was Megadeth's pinnacle!
