I played battery to my instructor at school. He said "go home and put a metronome to that, then come talk to me tomorrow." Next day he saw me come in heart broken, he said "and that is the best take they kept on the album". As I was walking away, he handed me a tape and said, now go home and try to play this." Best concert of my life was when I was 17 years old. They came and played a small club (that alone blew my mind) on Dec. 14, 1999. I still have the ticket stub. It was at Ground Zero in Spartanburg SC. Lineup was Dave and David obviously, but Marty was still with them, and so was Menza. To this day I have never heard a louder concert. There are no words for being less than 6 feet away from these four icons of metal. I caught a pick from Dave as well I still have. I mean... I was still in high school when I went to that show. That astounds me to this day how lucky I was. *Note - I may have inaccurate memories. 20+ years is hard to remember. :/ It seems it was Jimmy at my show and I just have an awful memory. My bad guys.

yes and Vinnie didn't give me satisfaction when he played with Mustaine : maybe Dave asked him to play very regulars drumming parts .....( i'm a huge fan of Vinnie but he exploses when he plays fusion jazz stuff i think )

Such a great musician taken far too soon. This song had a huge impact on my play style in my earlier years. Watching Nick in the actual video was astounding to see as he moved on his cage kit. True master gone to grass. R.I.P Nick Menza.

RIP Nick - great way to watch him break down this iconic song. The drum part isn't particularly difficult but his playing is so in the pocket on this song. Without Nick coming along it would have been a lot harder for me to learn how to play double bass.

+Hellwyck What the fuck are you arguing about? The way he constructed a fucking sentence? Get a life
Hellwyck you're the one who is stupid. He said "too bad they didn't rejoin megadeth". What do you mean you "have to rejoin once"? No you don't. You'd have to just joined one time initially, then leave. Any time they come in after that is a rejoin. You are so fucking stupid you can't even admit when you're wrong you just argue like a dumbass when all the proof you were wrong was right there.

I listened to "Holy Wars" today while I was setting my kit after playing Saturday and Sunday. This song, particularly Nick's drumming is so kick ass. I don't think Megadeath realize how much this song means to us Iraq veterans.

Are you a nut nut?. This chap was seriously underrated. Ask a drummer about Nick Menza and they will say great drummer with a great feel but ask Joe public and they do not rate him the same way yet ask non drummers about Chris Adler and they will rant and rave whereas real drummers are yet to be impressed and there are very few comments on drummer forums about Chris Adler yet there are many for Nick Menza and rightly so.

This is just beautiful. Thank you for this. In my opinion, this is one of the greatest songs ever played on drums. It's tight as hell but so rough and furious. I feel this on a different level to most songs.
