just gotta practice it until your hands get into muscle memory, which shouldn’t take long since the verse riffs are some of the most fun, rhythm-based riffs ever, and then learn where the notes sync up with words, and you’ll have it.
@bandolierboy19085 жыл бұрын
@@DanielLightspeedMcNair You explained it 10x better than I could ever explain it! I'm also glad i'm not the only one who understands the whole "notes sync up with the words" approach. It seems like a lot of people try to have 2 separate brains when playing this, one for the guitar and one for the vocals...I tried the 2 separate brains approach at first and got totally lost. When singing and playing this song, I noticed its not good to see the vocals and guitar as 2 separate entities because nothing will match up in your head if you try to see them as separate, and when you switch your focus between the two while playing. But when you see the vocals and guitar as one entity (in other words, seeing where the words sync with the notes and just letting your hands do the work), it's so much easier to pull off.

@@user-go3nd6mw4e I dont think I'll ever understand the mixing process that went into that album, but I think it's a good example of why bass actually *is* important to metal. @wokevirushandsanitzer53002 жыл бұрын
The guitars don’t have much low end. It’s needed to get all the good rhythmic action. I tried to play it with more low end and it’s just a muddy mess. The bass is very imperative. It’s not an easy song on bass. Ellefson is a monster. I just found a guy who covered this song with only fingers on bass. Utter insanity. “The bass channel” I think the channel is called. Look it up it’s seriously impressive. I can’t even play it properly with a pick on bass😂😂.

Examining those kind of isolated tracks reveals more of the fact that how today's bands are influenced with their predecessors and build their sound and riffing on them. This tone and riffing alone, reminds me a lot of Lamb of God. Especially Sacrament album if to be specific.

This is somehow less impressive than the isolated tracks from other bands I've been hearing. I think it's because the clarity and guitar focused nature of RIP didn't bury anything, it's all there to hear in its full majesty, so this isolated recording doesn't have that novelty. Still, a metal masterpiece right here.
@thirteenthandy7 жыл бұрын
MrIceman967 Exactly. The album didn't hide the guitar to begin with, so the isolated tracks aren't mind blowing to me. The whole album is mind blowing as is. With the other isolated tracks to be found on KZbin (let's say And Justice For All for instance) the isolated tracks bring out things you never hear when listening to the album because the guitars lost clarity among everything else, so hearing them is almost like hearing the song for the first time. With the RIP tracks, it's more like "yep, that's the guitar. It's still amazing and perfect, but nothing new." It's a compliment to the original recording.
@jsk8et7 жыл бұрын
Andy Oliphant I mostly agree but I think the places where they play 3rds instead of 5ths in the rhythm tracks are a little clearer when isolated. But yeah, this sound the most like the album even though it's guitars only for sure!

@@thirteenthandy Megadeth did that earlier. It took me decades to figure out that Dave does pickscratches on Good Mourning/Black Friday. Saw him practice it live on some video and he did it there. Yeah, it's fairly unique to Megadeth as well. I don't know many if any other bands that do it that way. Most have one guitarist do all the rhythm tracks (Metallica, Slayer after Divine Intervention) One player on the left and one player on the right (Slayer before Divine Intervention, Slipknot) or the Morrisound way which is to have both guitarists do one left and right rhythm track each (Death - Human, Sepultura - Beneath The Remains).
