MegaGargomon VS D-Reapers!! | Digimon Card Game: Biggest Dreamer Cup (ROUND 2)

This is Round 2 of the Biggest Dreamer Cup, a tournament featuring 6 themed decks from the second Theme Booster of the Digimon Card Game: Digital Hazard! The first two decks to clash are Henry's MegaGargomon and the D-Reapers from Digimon Tamers. The Green MegaGargomon deck applies a combination of cheap evolution and heavy suspension to control the opponent's field, further enhanced by the new evolution line's DP plus and DP-based bounce effects. It also goes nicely with the Armour-based Terriermon line support from BT-08 released a month earlier. On the other hand, the White D-Reapers deck is a unique new deck type with no Lv, with a mechanic of amassing evolution sources under its untouchable Digitama, the Mother D-Reaper, to make big moves and control the Memory gauge.

I find it personally disappointing that D-Reapers flopped so hard on camera because I think they're one of the main highlights of EX-02. But oh well, I have a policy of not rigging my matches so games like this are bound to happen occasionally. In my playtesting, this tended to be a much more intense matchup and I'd even say D-Reapers had an edge, winning more than half the time. MegaGargomon was definitely less consistent, as it essentially does not function without a Tamer and the right cards at the right time - the new Rapidmon being a very key player. I've seen the shenanigans people are doing by adding Digisorption and an Alice McCoy/Searcher engine but yall know me, I prefer to have fun playing around with theme decks haha. In any case, one highlight of this match for me at least was Henry being MVP. He might not be the best 4-cost Tamer if you're going for a competitive build but for a theme deck built primarily around the Terriermon line, I think he really pulls his weight if you drop him early. In my playtesting, the difference in smoothness of play when you have Henry and when you don't was starkly noticeable, to the point where I initially started with 4 Willis 2 Henry but adjusted to 3/3 along the way.

Btw, the turning point at 06:00 when MegaGargo goes for the 2nd Jeri? I was curious, so I tried replaying the match from this point, but leaving the Jeri alive and going for Security instead. This was the result: D-Reapers won with a comeback OTK 2 turns later.

I’m confused searchers inheritable gives plus 1000 to all your d reapers but I never see it being brought up in these kind of things when it’s not under the reaper and I’m not sure why

Inheritables only apply when they are in evolution source. The Searchers' +1000 won't trigger while they are on the field. It only takes effect when they have been absorbed under Mother or Reaper.

@@rustmarrow I understand that I happened in this match and that’s how inheritable work but I’m just confused why other thing like this where it’s one character deck vs d reaper you could see a 7000 beat over a adr 1 and they don’t even check how many searchers are under mother for the 1000 boost I’m just glad it was actually in this one even if it didn’t change the game

@Shayne Masterson OH I think I understand the source of your confusion. The Searcher +1000 is only during [Your Turn]! So during the opponent's turn, all the Reapers return to their normal power levels

You need to survive the battle to do inherent effects. So if both are deleted only ON DELETION effects will activate
